Operating in Great Barrier Reef: an enigmatic experience
Introductory Summary: An elixir of enigma and awe, Great Barrier Reef and the
Whitsundays are the paradise of the travelers who want to be lost in the nature. The article is a
travel piece under lifestyle segment which focuses on the travel and tourism segment of
hospitality sector.
Nature has donated its bounty to Australia and the biggest example of such bounty is the
Great Barrier Reefs, which is the uniqueness of the country (Australia 2013). Australia, being a
wonder nation, provides a roller coaster ride to her tourists and the awe finally ends at the Great
Barrier Reefs (Emslie et al. 2015). The Australians are fortunate enough to be receiving
international acclaims for the country’s natural beauty. Being the first reef to be recognized as
the world heritage site by UNESCO, The Great Barrier Reef is a picturesque scoop of nature.
Even though reefs have been highly sensitive to climatic diversities, Australian reef is
tremendously innovative in areas like size, diversity and enigmatic plant and fauna it exhibits
(Wolanski 2018). The Whitsundays, an archipelago of 74 tropical islands, is proudly situated at
Queensland coast, near the Great Barrier Reef.
Almost more than two million tourists visit the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays
every year and the spot has become the Mecca of the environmental enthusiasts and nature freaks
(Economics, D.A. 2013). Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays have always proved and will
remain to prove as one of the most celebrated tourist destinations in Australia. Who does not like
to stare, gaze and wonder about the enchantment named nature? Setting aside the ravishing
