INTRODUCTION
Hotel simulation is a tool which is used by business entities in order to conduct hotel
business management training and analysis. With the help of it a virtual market place can be
acquired by hotels which can help them to compete with each others (Hotel simulation, 2019). At
the beginning of simulation all the organisations are exactly the same which are competing with
one another. Entity which is selected for this report is Imperial Hotel. It is established in London,
United Kingdom. It was founded by Charles Fitzory Doll in year 1911. This report covers
various topics such as benefits and drawbacks of using HOTS software, good and bad decisions
which were taken within the team decisions scenario made while using hotel simulation etc.
Apart from this, the way in which a future resort manager can develop a training program for
employees with the help of HOTS.
MAIN BODY
Benefits and Drawbacks of using HOTS software
Hotel simulation is a software which is mainly used to simulate real competitive market
conditions for hotel operations. With the help of it organisations compete with each other in
order to attain competitive advantage in the market. Main purpose of it is to develop different
types of skills such as problem identification, prioritising and solving. In Imperial Hotel
managers use this software to develop team building and teamwork skills so that all the business
operations could be operated appropriately. Management groups can enhance their skills to
assess business situation, think analytically about them and make recommendations for
betterment of organisation (Charalambous and Chrysanthou, 2014). Following are the benefits
and drawbacks of hotel simulation software:
Benefits of Hotel Simulation Software: There are various types of benefits which could
be acquired by business entities such as Imperial Hotels by using Hotel simulation software. All
of them are as follows:
Hotel simulation software helps to the hotel staff to manage all the operations
appropriately so that organisation can survive in the competitive marketplace.
Managers in Imperial Hotel use HOTS software for the purpose of analysing problems,
monitoring causes of them and then formulating effective strategies to deal with them.

With the help of this software managers and other staff members can enhance ability of
making plans, analysing market situations and making effective strategies for betterment
of entity (Chi, 2014).
Skills of managers regarding analysing condition of business and thinking analytically
about them can be developed with the help of HOTS software.
Hotel simulation helps management to take effective decisions because it help them to
determine competitive situations which are taking place in marketplace and affect the
entity negatively.
Drawbacks of Hotel Simulation Software: There are various drawbacks of Hotels
simulation software for organisations such as Imperial Hotel. All of them are described below in
detail:
It is not possible for organisation to find solutions for all the business problems such as
decreased productivity of staff, with the help of hotel simulation software.
The time and cost which is invested by hotels to implement this software is very high.
For small or medium entities it is not possible to spend large amount for it (Feinstein and
Parks, 2014).
In order to formulate effective decisions it is very important to gather appropriate
information because software cannot provide appropriate results without accurate
information.
Good decisions made within the team decisions scenarios made while using HOTS software
I am working as a resort manager in Imperial Hotel and Hotel simulation software is used
by me in order to conduct business management training and analysis. Main purpose behind
using it, is to develop knowledge of staff members regarding functions of organisation so that
they can perform all their jobs effectively and appropriately. There are various good decisions
are made by me within team decisions scenarios which were made while using the HOTS
software. Following are the good decisions made by me as a resort manager in Imperial Hotel:
Training programs for staff: Hotel Simulation software is being used by me for the
purpose of conducting training programs for staff members. It was a great decision because with
the help of it employees were able to gather detailed information regarding organisation as well
as their jobs. It has helped me to enhance decision making skills of workers who are working in
Imperial Hotel (González and Yousif, 2015).

Advertisement requirements: With the help of Hotel Simulation software market
conditions can be determined hence it was used by me to analyse advertisement requirements of
organisation. I have used this software in order to fulfil advertisement related needs of Imperial
Hotel. It was also a good decision which was taken by me while using HOTS software because it
has resulted in effective execution of advertising activities.
Optimum utilisation of financial resources: Hotel Simulation software helps to
enhance skills regarding planning for different business purposes. I have used it in the decision
making for utilisation of financial resources of Imperial which has helped to deal with the
problem of lack of funds for operations. It was a good decision which was taken by me in
decision making while using Hotel simulation software as it has guided me to formulate
strategies to spend finance effectively (Kadry, Bagdasaryan and Kadhum, 2017).
Comfort of guests: As Hotel Simulation software is used for the purpose of analysing
market and business situation so it can help to formulate plan for comfort of guests by
determining their requirements so that they can stay in hotels properly. It has been used by me
for same purpose and it was a good decision because with the help of it I have attained success in
providing comfort to the visitors of organisation.
All the above described good decisions were taken by me within the team decisions
scenarios made while using HOTS software.
Wrong decisions made within the team decisions scenarios made while using HOTS software
As a resort manager in Imperial Hotel I have made various decisions within the team
decisions scenarios made while using HOTS software. Some of them were good and a few of
them were wrong. All the wrong judgements which were passed by me while working in
Imperial Hotel are as follows:
Food and beverage decisions: HOTS software is being used by me for food and
beverage decision as I thought that it will help me to serve foods to guests according to their taste
and preferences. It has been proved wrong because Hotel Simulation software cannot help to
gather information regarding clients preferences in eating items. In future, if I starts all over
again then I will make sure that I should ignore use of HOTS software as it is not beneficial in
determining customer's needs in food and beverage (Lara, Molina and Yanes, 2015).
Extra facilities to guests: In order to satisfy guests I have taken a decision regarding
providing them extra facilities. It was a wrong decisions because I failed to analyse the services

which could be asked by guests additionally. If I get the same chance again in future then I will
try to ignore the same mistake and use Hotel Simulation effectively and then take any decision
regarding additional services (Shi and Gao, 2014).
Staff management: Hotel Simulation software was also used by me in staff management
process in order to guide employees so that they can perform all their tasks appropriately. It was
a wrong decision because the software is not utilised by me properly as I forget to add actual
information in it. If the process of decision making could be started again then I will try to use
the software effectively and also take supervision from my superiors so that they can guide me to
form effective business decisions.
Refurbishment of hotel: I have also made a wrong within the team decisions scenarios
made while using HOTS software which is related to refurbishment of hotel. It was wrong
because I thought that Hotel Simulation can help me to make a new design for the hotel but I was
not able to use it properly. In future if I get the same opportunity then I will take proper training
and gather information regarding its usage and functioning so that same mistake would not be
repeated again (Teng and Chang, 2014).
All the above described wrong decisions made by me within the team decisions scenarios
made while using HOTS software. In order to ignore same situation in future I will get proper
training from experts regarding application of Hotel Simulation software.
The way in which future resort manager can develop a training program for employees using
HOTS software
I am working as a future resort manager in Imperial Hotel. I am responsible for different
activities which should be conducted by organisation in order to enhance skills of employees
who working within the entity. I am planning to develop a training program for staff members
with the help of Hotel simulation. All the steps which are going to be followed by me are as
follows:
Identifying training needs: First of all Hotel simulation software will be used to
determine training needs of employees according to their requirements. It will be based upon the
data which is stored in software. With the help of it I will be able to gather information regarding
actual needs and skills of staff members which are required to be developed in future (Vujošević
and Krstić-Furundžić, 2017).

Preparation of career development plan: When I will analyse the training needs then I
will prepare career development plan with the help of Hotel Simulation. It will help me to form
plans appropriately according to actual requirements and skills of staff members (Wardaszko,
2016).
Designing training program: Right after formulation of career development plan I will
design a training program with the help of Hotel Simulation in which employees will be divided
in to different parts according to their training needs. With the help of it I can make sure that all
the employees get appropriate training and their skills get enhanced.
Development of training materials: When training program will be designed then I will
develop training materials according to requirement of the program. All of them will be arranged
with the help of Hotel Simulation because it can guide me to arrange the substances which are
required to train staff members (Xing, Ren and Ling, 2015).
Conducting training: It is next step which is going to be followed by me in order to
organise a training program for staff members. At this stage I will conduct training with the help
of Hotel Simulation for different employees in groups.
Evaluating training program: It is the last step in which I will evaluate training
program with the help of Hotel Simulation because it stores data of all the staff members.
Effectiveness of training can be measured with the help of it because it can help to analyse that
employee's performance is being enhanced or not.
CONCLUSION
From the above project report it has been concluded that hotel simulation is a software
which is mainly used in organisations which are executing business under hospitality sector.
With the help of it skills regarding planning, decision making, evaluating marketing situations
can be enhanced. It also help to compete with all the other companies which are operating
business in same industry. On the other hand, there are various drawbacks of this software such
as cost and time involved in its implementation is very high. This software is also used to
conduct training programs which can help to enhance skills of staff members. Resort managers
can take good as well as bad decisions while using it, in order to ignore wrong judgement they
have to get proper training from experts.
