HOW AND WHY IS A SOCIAL GROUP REPRESENTED IN A PARTICULAR WAY?
The first page of this chosen magazine has its model Farah Ann through which it
basically focuses on two aspects regarding reflection of culture and the formation of values in
these cultures which is defined as the conditioned society of world. This magazine’s cover page
serves as the best instance for absurd societal constructions regarding Women’s Health (LaRosa,
Alexander and Bader 2016). The magazine was published in the year 2015 during the month of
August in Malaysia. The first page of this specific magazine on Women’s health aims at
reflecting secret behind slimming down and to persuade audiences especially women of all age
groups in order to sell magazines.
The cover page contains the content that is too engaging and reflects a constant urge
among women to shed weight in order to look beautiful. The articulation of words and way of
expressing, encourages women to pay heed to their obesity issues. In the conditioned society, it
is rock steady thought of people that women should always be thinner and slimmer. If the
women is slim she has every right to call her beautiful. The argumentative statement on the cover
page, “Look great from behind” symbolizes the aesthetics of body physique can be only possible
by taking up fast weight loss challenge and this is the message over all on the cover page. It
shows that effective weight loss in inches can bring happiness to many lives (LaRosa, Alexander
and Bader 2016). Apart from looking beautiful the cover page made another strong comment on
relationship building. It reflects the idea that if a woman succeeds in losing weight it will have
positive effects on her relationships, when it says, “Update your relationship status”. The way of
putting this statement is the way of suggesting readers the various benefits women can have if
she slims down herself.
The magazine purposefully manipulates the readers’ emotion to market for its magazines
so highlighting the common insecurities faced by most of the women in society. This particular
