Mobile phones industry Product class Smartphone is the product class which is categorised into mobile phones and further subcategorised into 25 segments.There are four major classes of mobile phones such as cell phones, features phones which comprises conventional phones and smartphones. Cell phones: These are classical phones which are specifically used for making calls and texts. Feature phones: These are conventional type phones which comprises different types of features. These mobile phones are updated version of earlier generation phones in which inputs button- based system and small display. These phones also known as dumbphones which is differ from touch-input smartphones. Smartphones: These includes Android mobile and Dual SIM mobiles which are quite different from above mobiles because t contains advance feature along with touchpoints. It includes number of brands i.e. Vivo, Realme, Oppo, Micromax, HTC, Nokia and Apple. Analysis of the sector Mobile phone sector in India is quite good because most of the public keeps handsets and smartphones. India gets second position as the telecommunication market across the world after China. Telecom sectors has raised from 74% to 100% in the India which illustrates that country becomes more updated for the new technology over the period. There are several brands such as Xiaomi and Samsung are more popularised than other brands like Vivo, Realme and Oppo in Indian market.

Competitor information There are five major smartphones competitors’ companies which are tries to capture large market shares estimates 72% of the smartphones as compared to 50% a year ago. Competitors are Samsung, Xiaomi, Apple, Lenovo, Vivo and Oppo which always tries to get high market share on their smartphones. Xiaomi comes in number brand position in India due to coverage of 27% large market share as compared other brands. Where Vivo captures 21% market share on the brand so comes in second position after Xiaomi. While Samsung slips into third position due to 10% market share on its products. So, it can be interpreted that there are three market leaders i.e. Xiaomi, Vivo and Samsung which tries to capture larger market share by competing with each other. others brand which includes Apple, Huwai, Google, Motorola and ITEL covers 13% market share in telecommunication market of India. Markets trends Market share of smartphones is too high in India, there are estimated 442 million users in India who uses smartphones. So, it becomes second largest market for smartphones across the world after China. Estimated 134 million smartphones are sold in India in the year 2017. Xiaomi has 27% market share while Samsung has 20% market share which is quite low as compared Xiaomi (Smartphone market in India - Statistics & Facts. 2020). Premium market share of Indian country becomes quite high. For example, premium mobile segment which has price greater than 30,000 such as One plus captures 35% market share, Samsung follows 23% while Apple captures 22% market share. It shows collectively three brands capture has taken 80% share of market while other brand i.e. Googles, HTC, Huawei, Vivo etc. seized only 20% share of Indian market.
