“Mswipe looks to have 50% women employees by end of 2022” (Brinda Sarkar & ET Bureau,
2022).
Introduction
MSWIPE is the leading mobile POS merchant acquirer and network provider in India. They
believe in assisting even the tiniest of businesses. Mswipe aspires to become India's leading
financial services platform for SMEs by providing seamless mobile POS solutions to such
merchants across the country. Their target market are those small businesses who struggle
getting payments from customers. Mswipe is one of the companies who has huge workforce of
about 3k people. Mswipe Technologies employs 2,088 people across seven locations and has
raised $96 million in total finance (“Mswipe Technologies Company Profile | Craft.co -

Craft.co”, n.d.). Until a year ago, the firm's gender employment ratio was 90:10, with women
accounting for 10% of the overall workforce. Since then, there has been a tremendous increase,
with women now accounting for 30% of the workforce at the Mumbai-based firm. It aims to
close the gender gap even more by 2022, when women will account for half of the company's
employees. Nayantara Bhargava, director of banking and insurance, Farhat Shaikh, head of
helpdesk, and Smita Gaur, vice-president, human resources, are among the company's current
female leaders (“MSWIPE About us”, 2022).
By April 2022, the company intends to hire 2,000 odd professionals and appoint women to its

Dealing with people who are different is one of the most prevalent and critical difficulties that
organisations are currently experiencing. Workforce diversity is the phrase for this problem.
Organizations are getting more international. In terms of gender, colour, and ethnicity, they are
growing more diverse. To appreciate diversity, the management of MSWIPE must have decided
to work together, that is why the company is taking such bold steps to hire more female
workforce and diversify its employees. They must have changed their mindset from treating
everyone the same to recognising differences and responding to those differences in a way that
ensures employee retention and productivity while remaining non-discriminatory. MSWIPE
Organization might face both opportunities and challenges as their workforce becomes more
diverse. According to the graphs of an article, back in 2018-2019, MSWIPE has give a decrease

in employee benefits costs, which has now reduced 10% reaching INR 75.7 Cr (Khatri, 2020).
Now later on companies’ recruitment expenses and number of employees has grown 51% to INR
70.5 Lakh (Khatri, 2020). From following facts, we can say that company has realised how
increasing workforce with diverse people can benefit in numerous ways. By increasing decision-
making and team effectiveness on complicated tasks, diversity can become a competitive
advantage. In the global market arena, a varied staff is sometimes required to deliver superior
customer service. When it comes to communication, team chemistry, and dysfunctional conflict,
workforce diversity presents additional obstacles. When correctly managed, diversity can boost
an organization's creativity and innovation.
As per the news headline we can see MSWIPE is strictly trying to manage its workforce. For
such huge companies with higher number of employees if not diversified properly can lead to
Employee turnover getting higher, communication getting more difficult, and interpersonal
disputes arises, increase workplace discrimination and harassment concerns. In this company
Another source of diversity is the influx of younger workers into the workforce. These personnel
bring unique perspectives on the workplace and preferred working relationships, all this might
conflict with those senior workers who are already held at different positions. In the past, women
had extremely traditional jobs such as nurses, teachers, and secretaries. They gradually moved
into professions that had previously been controlled by men. According to what MSWIPE CEO
said, he believes Companies with a gender diversity of 15 percent are 15 percent more likely to
achieve above-average revenue. Teams with a 50-50 gender split outperform other teams in
terms of work quality (Brinda Sarkar & ET Bureau, 2022).
