Along with, it produces hormoneslike oestrogen, progesterone and lactogen.Moreover, it prevents the mixing of maternaland foetal blood.Significance: Presence of placenta givespassive immunity since crossing of antibodiesis easier to protect from any pathogens forshorter duration. Healthy food habits andquitting smoking or drinking help inmaintaining the high blood pressure ofmothers.
