INTRODUCTION
Human resource management is the process of recruiting, hiring, selecting employees. It
helps business to attain their competitive advantages in an effective manner (Anderson, 2013).
Along with that, it is mainly concerned with the people management in company which
concentrates on the various systems and policies. Recruitment, selection, training and
development process, performance appraisal and rewards management like benefits or pay
systems are provided to employees by HR department. The main purpose of HR is to ensure that
the company is able to achieve success at higher level. This assignment is divided in 2 parts
wherein 1st is based on Chocola Fantastica which is one of the best rapidly growing organisation
and situated in South Wales. with that it deals with tailor-made chocolates within the UK. 2nd is
Microsoft which is famous organisation and provide computer software, computers etc.
moreover, discussion will be based on purpose or functions of HRM analyse by strength or
weakness of several approaches to recruitment or selection. After this, key elements of HRM
with internal or external factors influencing decision making process will get covered. At last,
human resource practices in work related context will get discussed.

P1 Purpose & Functions of HRM, applicable to workforce planning & resourcing an
organisation.
Human resource management is generally used to analyse both people who are working
in the company and department who has responsibility for managing overall resources in relation
with employees. Along with that HRM is the combination of different aspects such as selecting,
hiring and recruiting for an effective job profile within the industry. According to the present
scenario every organisation has different kinds of job vacancies and job role for aspirants. So that
people can get effective job opportunities as per their choice. In relation with Chocola Fantastica
they are properly using HR policies or systems to gain competitive advantages (Armstrong and
Taylor, 2014). Employees are also able to give their better performance in such activities which
is run by this respective organisation for betterment of future. Apart from this there are lots of

Purpose of HRM: The main purpose of HRM is to conduct training and development
programmes for employees in order to maximise their overall working performance
appropriately. By conducting these sort of programmes an organisation can achieve their desired
goals.
Functions of HRM:
Recruitment and Selection: The scope of these functions are very wide and it generally
consist different kinds of operations and resources which considered as the most essential assets
of an organisation. Along with this, it makes better impact on the total revenue growth and profit
margins of a company. Therefore, it is very important function for restructuring the organisation
and recruiting or selecting knowledgeable candidates who increases the overall firm's
productivity. Apart from that, main purpose of this function is to recruit candidates and manage
employees to fulfil the hiring needs into the organisation.
Training and Development: It is one of the better key of HR functions. At current
scenario most of the organisations are look at training and development programmes as an
integral part of HR development activities. Whereas, training is the change in attitude,
knowledge or skills of a person. Along with that, development creates the job opportunities for
people. Therefore, this is more essential to increase employees knowledge or skills for their
future growth. The purpose of this function is to make good knowledge with better position of
employees within the organisation.
Performance Appraisal: It refers to the continue process of review of an employee's job
performance and effective contribution to an organisation. Along with that it determines the
employee's skills, knowledge, growth and achievements. Purpose of this function of HRM is to
give effective feedback from the working performance of employees and increase their bonuses
effectively. Therefore, it is much essential for employees as it helps them to gain better position
in the working place also they make firms productive.

At present scenario, firm is going through certain problems, they have been specified

Low engagement of employees: Within the Chocola Fantastica, employees are not
interested in their work and they always disconnected from their mission or vision towards the
organisational goals. Apart from this, employees always find silly reason to skip their work
which develops the low engagement of employees. Therefore, manager of respective firm is
required to have loyal work force in order to make organisation productive and effective (Bratton
and Gold, 2017).
High employee turnover ratio: In context with Chocola Fantastica, this problem
minimises the overall performance of employees and increased cost as well. Therefore,
employees have lack of knowledge in relation with their work and not able to achieve
organisational goals. Therefore, manager of this respective company needs to make better plan in
order to reduce all these issues for the better future. Scope of HRM- Scope of HRM covers
employee welfare aspect, industrial relation and personnel management aspect. Whereas,
welfare aspect of employees is focuses on providing safety, health and medical care, welfare &
social safety services to the workers of an organisation. Personnel’s management feature of
human resource management focuses on personal growth or development by giving training,
appraisal, incentives & wages, recruitment & selection which individually contributes to
achievement of organisational objective.
Current Problems: The issues that Chocolate Presence is facing is that in their
organisation the employee’s turnover rate is increased and they are getting negative commends
from their clients regarding their bad quality. Along with this, the selection criteria for choosing
the workers by Chocolate Presence is not appropriate or fair.
Future Plans: Chocolate Presence can design to compile the outputs of assessment test as
well as interviews also to shortlist the appliers. Also, they can arrange a structured or systematic
interview instead of informal interview. Along with this, company can also give regular training
programs to their new and present workers to enhance the product's quality they produced. P2

Recruitment is a process with the help of which candidates are shortlisted to get selected
in the organisation to get selected for a specific post. There are different types of recruitment
methods along with their strength and weaknesses which are provided as under:
