INTRODUCTION
Human resource department is very much important as it hires and selects those
employees which are capable enough of accomplishing their allocated work. But for attaining
efficiency in their work, they need quality training. The enclosed report deals with the
usefulness and importance of training and development in the Tesco Company which is
leader in the grocery and general merchandise retail sector. It effectively accomplishes its
goals with the quality training provided and imparted to their newly hired employees which
increases their productivity (Date, 2015). The employees' productivity maximises which
results in the achievement of the objectives of the firm in effectual manner. Thus, it
flourishes in the market by garnering good quantum of profits and enhanced consumer
satisfaction is attained by the firm in effective way.

AC 1.1 Compare different learning styles in imparting training to employees in organisation
The training department is equipped with imparting training to new employees so that
there efficiency is maximised in a way which meets organisational goals in effective way.
The various styles:
1. Converging-
Learners of this style uses learning to find solutions to practical problems and having
founded the solutions to problem, they make decisions regarding their work. They like to
experiment with new ideas and develop their thinking.
2. Accommodating-
Learning style follows intuition rather than logic. Learners tend to enjoy new
challenges to solve the problems. But they rely heavily on their intuition.
3. Assimilating-
Learners watch the problem and then thinks ways to solve the problem in effective
manner. They rely on logical and concise approach which is based on ideas and concepts.
4. Diverging-

Learners watch the problem and then feels to solve it. They solve the problem by
having concrete solutions from different perspectives and they are sensitive to needs and
wants of the people. They work best in groups.

The learning curve shows that if employees is given the work over and over, he will
perform effectively (Ford, 2014). Time required to perform the task will reduce. The curve
shows the improvement of him which is required for organisation's desired goals. This curve
is also known as experience curve.
Importance of learning in organisation-
1. Increase in efficiency-
The employees when given and provided effective training will reduce the time to
work in the organisation. As a result, productivity of employees will maximise too much
extent. This will be beneficial to organisation.
2. Enhances productivity-
Productivity of employees will be increased to full extent. The training provided to him will
result in fast accomplishment of his allocated work. He will perform his duties well and will
be accountable to his superiors. This will provide gain to organisation. Tesco company
usually imparts training to new employees to maximise their productivity. This helps it to
have adequate profit to achieve its goals in effective way.
3. Delivering results-
Employees will provide effective results to organisation to accomplish its desired
goals and aims in the manner which is beneficial to it in the best possible manner ( Jones,
Woods and Guillaume, 2014.).

The learning styles are much important to the organisation. It increases the
employees' efficiency in better way. The theory and its importance are:
1. Behavioural Theory-

This theory assumes that when web born, our mind is blank and afterwards our mind
is shaped through punishment, positive and negative reinforcement which changes the
behaviour of the learners.
2. Cognitive Theory-
This theory operates on the principle that mind of the learner is in processing form. It
depends on the mental strength and perception of him in recognising the world.
3. Social learning theory-
According to this theory, people learns itself from the environment by imitating each
other and observing each other which develops their learning. They develop their learning by
observing the surroundings in the organisation. It works on attention attribute which states
that individual should pay attention to the features of the behaviour. It can be reproduce the
behaviour by organising his or her responses in the environment.

AC 2.1 Compare the training needs for employees at various levels in the organisation
Training is key element for human resources in order to achieve the goals of firm ion
effective way. In this scenario, Tesco company is dependent on the skills and capabilities of
employees which are required to give their performance in manner that will accomplish the
aims of organisation in better way. Employees are required to assign work by imparting
training to them in effective way. This is the responsibility of the higher level personnels
(Leijten and et.al , 2013). The training will be different to various employees according to
their skills required to perform the job. The training need assessment model is a method of
evaluating if training need exist, what training is required to fill the gaps.
The top level management team is required to perform the training programmes so
that employees can attain efficiency in their allocated work. The difference between the new
staff and existing staff is that new staff require induction training to be familiar with
organisation's day to day process. While existing staff at various levels need just a glimpse or
overview as they are familiar with the organisation's environment.
AC 2.2 Merits and demerits of different methods of training
Advantage of online training

1. No travel costs are incurred by the company as provides the training through company's
portal.
2. It is developed quickly because employees need to come on the portal of the company.
This saves time of both organisations and newly hired employee.
Disadvantages:
1. This training method is based on the online portal. As a result, no face to face contact is
possible.
2. It requires investment in operating website and high equipments are needed.
Advantages of Just-in-time training method:
1. It promotes employee involvement (Lindsey and et.al, 2015 ). This is helpful in
maintaining clarity in meeting objectives. He is equipped with organisational goals in
effective manner which increases revenue of firm.
2. It is available when needed at trainee's convenience. It imparts training according to the
trainee's wish as per his convenience.
Disadvantages:
1. It creates difference from instructor to instructor as a result it becomes bit difficult to
handle it.
2. It is costly to develop and operates as requires lot of investment in it. This adds to
additional costs to organisation for investing in costly affair.
AC 2.3 Develop systematic approach to plan training event in organisation
The systematic approach to plan training event:
1. Analysis-
The training needs of employees is required so that analysis of performance can be
done in effective manner. This will give and provide clarity to organisation as to which

training is required to enhance the efficiency of employees (Mazerolle and Dodge, 2015).
This information helps organisation in implementing the training requirement.
2. Design-
In this stage, input gathered from analysis is used to design and create learning
objectives. It also helps to form instructional methods. It specifies the location where the
training will take place.
3. Development-
This stage deals with acquiring the required material to impart training to the newly
hired employees.
4. Implementation-
It is considered as the main factor towards strategic training approach. It is summary
of the aforesaid steps (Sitzmann and Weinhardt , 2015). In this stage, actual training is
conducted for the staff. Employees use materials to evaluate themselves.
5. Evaluation-
Evaluation is conducted throughout the training process. It must be continuously
assessed in effective manner. Evaluating means to test the skills and capabilities of the
employees so that it can bring efficiency in it.

The usefulness of training are:
1. Economy in operations-
The employee who has been imparted training will be able to perform effectively. It
will produce efficient results in the organisation. The rate of damage of equipments will be
reduced too much extent.
2. More Productivity-

The employee will be more productive in its approach as he will be able to
accomplish his assigned work in effective manner. This will achieve organisational goals in
the best possible manner.
3. Clarity in procedures-
With the help of training of employees, the best method available for accomplishing
work can be aligned and make available to employees (Tahir and et.al , 2014). Tesco
Company usually adopts that procedures in which employee have clarity in their allocated
work.
Feedback of the trainer:
1. Well structured-
The trainer has been delivered the course of training in effective way. This enhances
the employees and they provide good feedback about the trainer. All the contents of course
has been well structured.
2. Calm behaviour-
The behaviour of the trainer was calm throughout the training session. His behaviour
helped a lot in learning the course effectively.
AC 3.2 Carry out the evaluation by analysing the responses to the evaluation
form
Training is quite essential as technology is evolving at a faster rate. The responses to
the evaluation form was quite impressive from the employees. By effective training
employees were found to be efficient in their accomplishing assigned work. They were more
productive in their approach. It was found in evaluation form that many employees were
meeting ahead of the productivity level which the organisation had maintained. They were
continuously improving their efficiency in manner which has given clarity to achieve
organisational goals.
Tesco Company has been successfully in accomplishing its set targets. It is
multinational grocery and general merchandiser retailer and is been effectively achieving and
gaining more revenue from consumer satisfaction. The employees carefully listened to the

trainer to attain efficiency in their assigned work. The training personnel has been providing
training in the manner which ultimately increased the productivity of employees (Zaitseva
and et.al , 2015). The calm behaviour of the trainer also led them to be effective in their
work. This eventually led to achieving the goals of organisation in the best possible way.
AC 3.3 Review how successful was the evaluation form and how it achieved the intended
objectives of organisation
The organisation plans to meet its objectives so that it can be efficient in garnering
more revenue from the consumers of its products. Training helps employees to meet
organisational objectives in effective manner. The effective training helps workers to
multiply their skills needed to perform the task efficiently . The organisation shapes the skills
and abilities of hire employees in effective way which enhances their productivity and gain
organisational aims. Training is essential to new employees as it empowers them to
accomplish their work in effective manner, which results in efficiency of them in achieving
their work.
Tesco company strictly believe in nurturing its employees in the calm atmosphere so
that they become future leader. It relies on imparting training to them which enhances their
productivity and meets the goals of it. The evaluation form proved that employee's trust and
loyalty towards work maximised their behaviour in effective manner. This increases the
satisfaction of the employees and they are driven to the firm's goals in the best possible
manner.

AC 4.1 Discuss the role of government with regards to training, development in organisation
The government of the UK(United Kingdom) possess the essential role in imparting
training to the employees. The government arrange training programs so that employees get
more productivity to the company and company can flourish in the manner by which goals of
the firm can be achieved in effective manner. The employee will gain efficiency in their work
and firm will garner profits and appreciation from the market.
Tesco Company will be very much successful when government imparts the training.
This will help it to cut down the costs incurred on training and as a result it can be efficient in
its operations. Government should take concern in providing training to internal development

of firm's performance. Lifelong learning is self motivated learning by the employees. As
such, the economy industries are flourishing more quickly and gaining efficiency. Its
standard output has also increased. This will provide an edge to the company over its rivals
in the best possible manner for the betterment of the Tesco company.
The government has to take step in imparting training to employees so that the
expenses which are incurred on training to new employees by the firm can be minimised too
much extent. This will provide firm to accomplish the other important objectives which is
required to be concerned by the firm (Zotov and et.al , 2017). It can concentrate on important
matter like to gain more productivity and more consumer satisfaction by providing standards
quality of goods and by measuring and maximising the revenue from the market. This will
produce more quickly results for the betterment of the firm.
The government needs to provide training to employees so that the additional costs
incurred on training be reduced down by the company which can invests the money to that
projects which yield profits in long run in the survival of the firm. Firm is able to make good
quantum of investment on other projects which will provide good return on investment to the
firm in effectual manner.
AC 4.2 Evaluate how development of the competency movement has impacted public and
private organisation
Competency movement has impacted the private firms as they are concern about their
performance gaps. Private firm is the leading firms which are investing in competency
movement. Firms require that its competency should not be loosened as it will have
competitive disadvantage. It will have low production, poor and low standard quality and of
course will lead to reduced motivation among employees and will have adverse effect on
firm's goals and aims.
Tesco Company makes huge investment in training its employees. It provider steeper
curve which checks the evaluation of the firm in the manner as employees are efficient on
their work. The learning is never ending process and it goes on life of employees. As the
training level has impacted the private firms.

The public sector is also impacted by the competency movement. This sector has
lifted its performance also in the competition with the private firms. Public companies are
also trying to cope up with the quality and service level too much extent in its functioning
and operations. Competency movement and skills are vital part of the learning. It makes the
performance of employees in effective manner and also improves it in the manner which
accomplish the desired goals of the organisation.
The effectiveness of the employees is gained a lot in public firms and they are
competing quite nicely with the private firms. The employee is highly motivated in its
assigned work and which in turn maximises its productivity in the manner which is beneficial
for the effective functioning of the public firm. They are continuously increasing their
performance in the company which shows that they are sincere enough to organisational
goals and are committed to it in the effective manner. The motivation of employees will be
helpful for the firm and also individual development of the organisation which will garner
more quantum of revenue to it in effective way.
AC 4.3 Discuss how contemporary training initiatives by government has contributed to
human resources
development for an organisation
The contemporary training initiative was taken by the UK government to inject the
growth and stability in the country's economy. It will bring efficiency in the organisation and
will bring stability in better manner. The training is vocational one. It is imparted with aim to
quick learning on various areas of business. The present scenario, the government designs
various qualitative programmes for different firms. The Tesco company is also in the list of
the government as it is the biggest retail giant in the country.
Contemporary development provides quick process of development which helps the
firm to meet its objectives and also help to accelerate the pace of the economic growth in
effective manner. Thus, dual effect is observed as both company and economic stability
increases the country's worth in the international market (Chand , 2011). It also helps to
maximise the brand name and reputation in the market. As a result, consumes are also
attracted towards the firm and sales are maximised in the best possible manner for the benefit
of the company in effectual manner.

training. It helps the company to manage its resources in effectual manner. The company is
fully optimising its valuable resources as it is scarce. The company has developed its core
values and to make it a success it is required to train the employees so that it may achieve its

organisation in effectual manner. The contemporary training initiative will aid the employees
quickly to adapt to the dynamic environment. As a result, adaptability of employees will
provide greater amount off revenue to the fir as they will be more productive in its approach.
CONCLUSION
Hereby, it can be concluded that if the firm want to accelerate the pace of its
productivity, they need to provide training to new employees. The training has different
styles and theories like behavioural approach, social learning approach and cognitive
approach. These theories help organisation to maintain its productivity level by imparting the
required training to employees. Training is provided according to the nature of job and skills
of the employees in effective manner. This helps employees to achieve greater productivity
and can able to do their work with full enthusiasm and with full efficiency. The organisation
will be able to achieve its goals in desired manner which has been stated by it in its aims and
objectives. Trainer should be calm in its behaviour and should be proficient in imparting
training to its trainees. As a result, employees will gain trust and will be loyal towards the
company. This will help the company in effective manner as it will be able to gain more
productivity by providing quality training to the employees. As such employees will be
efficient in their assigned work.
