Introduction
The role of management and leadership is generally defined as an individual’s ability
to influence people who are a part of the organization successfully to achieve the goals of the
organization in an efficient and effective manner. Leadership and management have
significant differences however they are collectively to bring positive and profitable
outcomes to an organization. Leadership is mainly communicating and putting across the
vision of an organization and management is implementing the vision of an organization to
achieve the goals that the organization has set for them.
Starfish Oil is a company that engages in the exploration and the production of oil and
natural gas. The company currently wants to explore Asian Oil fields due to the economy
downturn in the oil sector of the North Sea that has paved way for high unemployment, low
wages and loss of opportunities that will make operations in this area difficult and not
favorable for the company that will result in loss. The company wants to lower their cost in
their operations to sustain in the market. The leadership team intends on bringing a change by
hiring local experts and skilled labors to support and be beneficial for the organization This
paper is a report that tends to talk about the company Starfish Oil and the management and
leadership change that is required in the company to lower the costs of the company and at
the same time bring positive and effective changes for the profit and the success of the
organization. The Starfish Oil is a company that has been working to explore oil and natural
gas. The company has been working effectively and has acquired a good share in the market
however the company Starfish Oil is currently facing difficulties due to the economic
downturn in the oil sector of the North Sea where they previously used to carry out their
activities of drilling to procure oil. The company has shifted their attention to the Asian Oil
fields. This shows the ability of the employees of the company to take effective fast decisions
