INTRODUCTION
Human resource life cycle is a concept of humans resources management which include
various stages of an employee in the organization from their recruitment to its termination. HR
department and its functions are more important in the organization in order to maintain proper
flow in the workplace environment (Cabot and etr.al., 2019). Managers & leaders have to ensure
all the activities perform in effective which enhance employees as well as organizational
performance in order to increase productivity or profitability. Along with this it further helps in
achieving business goals & objectives. For the better understanding of this concept, this report
select Thomas Cook Group hospitality sector company. It British travel organization founded in
19 June 2007 after merger of Thomas Cook & Son and MyTravel Global Plc. They globally
serve their services and its headquarter in UK.
This report cover various topics such as different stages of human resource life cycle
along with specific job role, evaluate its importance and make recommendations. Develop
performance management plan for specific job role, identify specific legislation which impact
organizational decision making process. In addition, this report includes different organizational
functions and how they all interrelated. Along with this, evaluate different methods of
communication, coordination and monitoring which helps in strengthen the value chain.

P4 Different stages of HR life cycle with specific job role and its importance to retain & enhance
their talent
Human resource life cycle: It is also called employee life cycle where every worker or
staff member goes through this stages in the organization. In this time period, role of HR is very
important and they face various challenges in order to succeed business goals & objectives. By
using HR life cycle, organization able to add value or gain opportunity to enhance employees
skills and competencies which add value for the organization (HR life cycle, 2019). In context of
Thomas Cook, HR department planning to hire assistant manager for the marketing department
in order to enhance marketing activities. So HR department have to follow proper process in
order to hire skilled candidates for the role of assistant manager. There are four stages of HR life

cycle which is implemented by HR of Thomas Cook organization at the time of hiring for the
role of assistant manager and it is discussed below:
Recruiting and On boarding: It is first step of employee life cycle where employee not
a part of the organization. It includes recruitment process where HR hire right person for
the right job. It is very important part or function of HR department for the development
of their business. Because skilled people helps in achieving business goals & objectives
by using their skills and other competencies. In the Thomas Cook, HR department have
to conduct hiring process for the role of assistant manager. There are some points which
need to consider before staring recruitment process (Cherkesova and et.al., 2016). HR
have to review benefit plan and compensation packages to attract talented candidates for
this role. Need to prepare documentation which includes role and responsibility of
assistant manager. Finalise the interview process which contain the information regarding
interview rounds, specific questions or task which is going to ask at the time hiring. So
HR manager of Thomas Cook select a candidate for the role of assistant manager after
evaluating their skills and other competencies which is required to perform this role.
Orientation and Career Planning: This is the next stage where organization select the
candidates for the specific job and it become part of the company. This is the stage where
employer decided that how long new candidate will stay in this organizational. Basically
employer will take 90 days to evaluate performance of employees and they decided
whether they want to leave or not. It is the learning face of employees where they interact
with their co-workers, learn things regarding job such as responsibility & role of the
position. HR of Thomas Cook conduct a induction program for new hiring where they
provide training as per their job responsibility (Chitchyan and et.al., 2016). Such as
assistant manager required negotiation skills, convincing power, market knowledge so
they can aware other people and fully aware with different packages.
Career Development: In this stage, employer review the employees performance and
then analyse whether they are doing their best or not. Career development strategy is the
best way to engage top talent. HR of Thomas Cook already discuss the career goal in the
initial interview process to identify employees potential, realistic goals and it is comply
with organizational goals & objectives. With the help of regular review of employees
performance, employer become aware about their performance and how they perform to
