Introduction
There are different leadership roles to be followed by the contemporary business entities
in respect to different business situations. Each of the major leadership roles and models is
effective in different situations and ineffective in other situations. Moreover, the approach of the
leadership roles also witnessed evolution in respect to the change in the current business affairs
and trends. Thus, the leadership models that were effective in the last decade are not effective in
the current business situations (Clarke 2013). In this case, it is important to have the
understanding of different leadership models and identify the most effective one in the current
time. This report will discuss about the major two leadership models and compare between them.
The advantages and disadvantages of each of these models will be identified and analyzed. A
suitable and effective style of leadership will be identified along with the justifications.
Critical analysis of transformational leadership
Transformational leadership model is one of the most popular models followed in the
current time. There are different examples such as Steve Jobs of Apple Inc. and Elon Musk of
Tesla Motors can be considered as the transformational leaders. According to this model, leaders
are more participative in nature and leads by example. The level of influence of the
transformational leaders is also more compared to other leadership models. Another
characteristic of the transformational leaders is the visionary skills. This refers to the fact that
transformational leaders have the capability of accurately forecasting the future business scenario
and design the management approach accordingly (Odumeru and Ogbonna 2013). Thus, the
probability of getting success in the long term will get more in the case of implementing the
transformational leadership model. However, it should be noted that the effectiveness of the
