INTRODUCTION In recent years, companies are considering Human Resource Management as a tool forimproving the competencies of their employees. In past, the human asset was managed bypersonnel management and general theory was applied for managing them. But now, thescenario has been reversed, as companies are evolving with innovative policies and procedures tocontrol and direct this capital for accomplishing the objectives of the organization. Increasinglevel of competition in the domestic as well as international market has compelled the firms totake the path of technological advancement, which can be better managed by interaction ofhuman resources (Chan and Kuok, 2012). Pertaining to this, the main of the current research is toanalyze the main purpose and function of HRM along with its practices in the organization. The company taken under consideration for this purpose is ALDI. It is popularly knownas Albrecht Discounts and it is a retail giant based on Germany. The firm has its operation inmany parts of the globe. It is one of the biggest retailers and has segregated its operations as AldiSud and Aldi Nord. The organization has implemented efficient processes with minimumamount of variants. Because of this, they are able to achieve competitive edge over the otherorganizations in the market. Furthermore, the firm has adopted the policy of “No Frills”, whichsignifies that there is very limited amount of filling of shelves and customer service and they arelow cost as well (Aldi, 2018). Considering all these factors, the report will evaluate the influenceof HRM practices on profits, output and decision making of Aldi. The final part of the report willthrow light on significance of employee relation and various legislations impacting the humanresource management decision making. TASK – 1P1 Purpose and function of Human resource managementSeeking help from the human resource management, companies can increase thecompetencies of their employees. Through effective plans and procedures in place, thepotentiality as well as skills of the staff members can be enhanced. Considering this, organizationcan attain their strategic goals and objectives and at the same time can contend the humanresource. The gap between the employer andemployee can be narrowed down, if the workers are satisfied with the culture and practices of themanagement. It helps them to become less hesitant to discuss their problems and issues with themanagement and can devise a solution with consensus (Crick and Spencer, 2012). Therefore, themain purpose of human resource management is ALDI is to manage the important asset i.e.human resource and to enrich them through adequate training and learning events. Further, it alsoacts as a string between the employee and the employer. They contribute in human resourceplanning and make use of available resources effectively. Since, the firm is related with thebusiness of retail, the interaction of human capital and their management is undoubtedly vital.Focusing on the market of UK, there are many stores of Aldi which need numerous staff formanaging day to day activities. Regarding this, the need of improvement in the skills andcompetencies of employees is pivotal, as they are the people who directly deal with the endusers. Functions being executed by HRM in ALDI are being defined underneath: Recruitment and selection – It is important function not only in Aldi but in every businessconcern irrespective of which industry they belong. Recruitment and selection has gainedsignificance because of its role in procuring the major asset of the firm and taking thefirm in the seventh sky. It has large number of stores in the market and thus, numerousemployment opportunities are being rendered to the general public. The HR team of thefirm is keen to have those people on board who have good communication skills(Davidson, McPhailand Barry, 2012). The openings are advertised on in store board, jobcenter and newspaper so that mass can be aware about the vacancies. Adopting thisstrategy supports the firm in having pool of applicants for the varied roles and jobs. Compensation and benefits – It is quite natural that one will employ his blood day andnight to get some remuneration in return, as it is the basic need of human to satisfy hisnecessities. Aldi offers handful packages to their employees and also provide timelybonus and other benefits for their extra-ordinary performance. HR Planning – Management of employees can be done effectively, if planning is donebeforehand. According to the need of the job, skill and capabilities to be possessed by theapplicant should be decided in advance.
