MARKETING REPORT 3IntroductionThe service industry relies extensively on the human resource management initiatives asit is the basis for increasing the efficiency of operations and achieving strategic goals andobjectives. In this report, the focus is on providing a detailed analysis of the human resourcemanagement and its applicability in the hotel industry. This report relied on the information fromHilton Hotel that is currently opening 50 rooms in Stratford City. The aim of opening such hotelrooms is to maximize the comfort and increase service delivery. In this study, it explores theeffect of employee relations and employment law, understand the recruitment and selectionprocess, and provide an in-depth assessment of training and development conducted in the hoteland service industry. Task 11.1.Role and Purpose of Human Resource ManagementHuman resource management (HRM) is a functionality in each of the organizationmanagement initiatives that is developed with the intention of managing the needs of the humanresource. It is also developed to maximize on the employees’ performance level throughaddressing their financial needs. There are various sets of HRM that are integrated in theorganization and this ranges from recruitment purposes, training, and compensation ofemployees with the intention being to meet the strategic objectives of Hilton Hotel in Stratford.When assessing the performance level of Hilton Hotel, the HR strategies developed played animportant role in achieving the leadership in the service industry. Hilton Hotel’s performancelevel is dependent on the efficiency and capabilities characterizing individuals working in thehuman resource department.

MARKETING REPORT 4For Hilton Hotel, the human resource management is involved with development ofabilities, skills, and knowledge of the employees as the department understands the importanceof these skills in improving efficiency of performances of employees within the company. Withthe expansion of the company’s operations, it is evident that Hilton Hotel is facing myriad ofchallenges and there is need to develop effective measures that will aid in achieving successlevel in the distribution of manpower to the 50 rooms that have been acquired by the company.One of the ways in which the company is striving to solve the issue is through the appointmentof the trainee human resource manager who will be tasked with performing the human resourcefunctions that characterize the organization. As provided in the study by Riley (2014), the mainroles of HRM include recruiting, training, and performance management in achievingorganization’s objectives. For the new selected individual, the roles of HR that will beundertaken in Hilton Hotel are provided as: Potential Employees’ Identification: The HR management, with the help of otherdepartmental heads, undertakes an assessment and overview of the organization’sactivities and determines the requirements of the Hilton Hotel’s personnel. In most cases,this involves advertising for the job position needed. In meeting the HR requirements, thetask of the HR is to use effective recruitment methods and select a candidate that best fitsthe vacant position available at Hilton Hotel. Assessment of the employees’ training needs: The duty of the HR is to determine theneeds of the employees and from this basis ascertain the requirements that will aid inachieving improved performance level of the employees. The needs of the existingemployees including the managers and the staff people at Hilton Hotel need to be
