INTRODUCTIONHuman Resource Management is a function performed in an organisation so thatorganisation goal can be achieved through bring coordination and and maintaining theirsatisfaction. Human resource includes the function which use people as a resource andchannelising them to work for the goal of organisation. This function is concerned withperformance management of the employees working in the organisation. The organisationchosen for this report are International Consolidated Airlines. This airline is a multinationalholding airline and its registered office is in Madrid and its headquarter is established in London.The report will b e created on the basis of assumption that a Assistant Human resource officer ismaking this report and it will cover role and purpose of HRM and creation of a HR plan and theircurrent state of employment and how it affects the service industry and a job description andperson specifications and selection process of service industry and contribution of training anddevelopment in activities for a selected industry.TASK 11.1 Examining the role and purpose of human resource management in context of airlineindustry.This is the function of management who coordinates the work of human bodies andmanges them so that all their efforts will be utilised for the achievement of company's objective.This is a method to control the performance of people and internal environment of the company.This function only deals and concerned with people not in any other assets or part. In Airlineindustry, the different needs of people are identified as people are the most important part of thecompany to create value and obtain competitive advantage (Baum, 2016). The airline implementstrategies by considering internal and external factors such as corporate strategy, employmentlaws etc. The management of HRM is difficult in the case of Airline as it operates atinternational level. There are various role of human resource officer in Airline Industry-Developing skills for the future- The employer and employee work together to increasethe capability of employee and develop their skills. The HR manager carry out operations todetermine the potential of the employees which benefit that for growth of company. In AirlineIndustry the HR manager supports their employees and guide them so they can perform activities

effectively. In this type of industry the role of employee changes according to the requirement inAirline. Building loyalty and commitment- The HR manager makes effort to increase theemployee commitment towards the goal of the company. This starts from the selection of rightperson for right work based upon their qualifications. In Airline industry, the HR manager ofcompany select employee through a proper procedure which is not easy to crack and this assuresthat they are right for that job and make them committed with their jobs and provide themvarious challenges to check their ability within a specific period (Bratton and Gold, 2017).Training and Development- Training is important for the growth of the employee. TheHR manager provide training to their employees so that their knowledge about the work they aregoing to perform which increase their efficiency. In Airline Industry, the HR manager of thecompany provide training to their employee for a specific period of time which makes themperform efficiently.The purpose of HRM in context of Airline Industry-The main purpose of HRM is to monitor the work of employee to achieve organisationobjective and there are some purposes of Airline Industry which are to be fulfilled as follows-Performance Appraisal- This is the major purpose of HRM to monitor and evaluate theperformance of employees through comparing it with standard performance. The purpose ofperforming the role of HR is to measure the performance of employee and for that standards andit also includes providing reward to the employees who performed well. In Airline, the HRmanager of company establish criteria to measure the performance and provide informationregarding these standards and at the end of month actual performance is compared.Fulfilling Organisation objective- The Function of HRM performed by the company isto achieve the desire objective of the company. In airline, the functions of HRM is performed forthe company is to achieve the objective with proper maintaining the people which is consideredas important resource for the company (Bailey and et. al., 2018).1.2. Human Resource PlanHuman Resource Management planning is defined as the continuous process throughwhich any of the organisation can do better planning to achieve its target on specified timeperiod with best possible manner. In context of British Airways, it will be one of the crucialprocess where they can decided and plan that which types of employee's does they required and
