Taking interview of candidates is one of the important function of an HR professional. The first
and important step that can take HR professionals to improve their interview skills is interview
training. It can be said that interview is a learned skill, so by taking appropriate interview
training, they can improve their skills in an effective manner. Another important way which can
adopt by HR professionals is practice (Krupa, 2016). Generally, it is said that "practice makes a
man perfect." If they practice enough for taking the interview, they can successfully enhance the
quality of interview and can get a large number of information from potential candidates.
Improving interview skills is not an overnight process; HR professionals need to spend their
huge time on practice and learning. By doing this, the can successfully conduct an interview of
potential candidates.
On the other hand, developing interview skills is not an easy task. HR professional may face a
large number of problems in doing so. First and foremost problem is diversification in
recruitment. The presence of diversification in recruitment makes very challenging for HR
professional to attend them in a successful manner. Another important issue is the difference in
behavioral aspects (Smith, 2014). Generally, it is said that every person is different from others.
Due to that behavioral difference, HR professionals need to improve themselves with divergent
skills. Moreover, HR professionals also suffer from the problem of lack of time. Due to lack of
time, they not able to give their time on learning interview skills. Thus, it can be said that they
need to focus more on improving interview skills by training and practice and should avoid all
challenges in learning path of interview skills.
