INTRODUCTIONHuman resource management is an important part of an organisation, in which managersplay an important role in managing the entire workforce. They formulate various plans andpolicies in order to handle work of employees. They perform various task like recruitingcandidates within enterprise, provide essential training to them and update their skills andabilities on regular basis (Schuler, Jackson and Tarique, 2011). These processes help in gaininghigh retention of staff members and increase profitability of a firm. In this context, a report hasbeen made which shows importance of HRM in an enterprise. Thomas cook has chosen in thisassignment which is a British multinational travel company of UK. It operates business intourism sector with main aim is to provide better services to travellers and make their journeymemorable. This report has described various approaches of recruitment and selection along witheffectiveness of HR practices in a company. TASK 1P1 Purpose and functions of HRM, applicable to workforce planningWorkforce planning refers to a procedure in which HR managers of a company used tomake continuous improvement and design in perfect way. In this process, they used to alignworking organisation with priorities and requirement of business. It includes legislations,regularities and production requirements along with hiring desired employees in firm. In additionto this, workforce planning includes various strategies which is based on determining workers'implications, goals and objectives of a business in context with future and current needs(Functions of HRM. 2017). Thus, HR managers of a company perform various functions inorder to design workforce which aid enterprise in enhancing profitability and productivity ofbusiness in a higher manner. In context with Thomas Cook, which is a travel company of UK.Currently, near about 22,000 number of workers are working in this tourism industry. Purpose of human resource management- The main purpose of human resourcemanagement in a firm is to boost productivity of workers. They generally concern with makingimprovisation in an association as well as on adopting various approaches and policies. Somemain purposes of HR managers in Thomas Cook are:- Create better organisational culture: It is the main purpose of human resourcemanagement of a company in which managers used to form effective working culture.1
