Introduction:
According to the researches, English is a West Germanic Language came into use during
the medieval England that came into universal consideration as lingua franca. Angles as one of
the German tribe provided the name of English language. It has close connection with Frisian
and Low Saxon with Germanic influence in the field of vocabulary and grammar (Algeo and
Butcher 2013). English language has been developing and shaping its own image from past
1,400 years. The initial stage of English language has a close connection with German dialects as
it was the originator of the language. Use of English language is categorized into three different
stages namely Old English, Medieval English, and Modern English (Knowles 2014). The
research also states that English is one of the languages that consists of the largest number of
speakers. Along with this, the language is considered as the third mostly spoken native language
in the entire universe. Spanish and Chinese are the first and second mostly spoken native
language respectively (Hwang et al. 2017). As mentioned earlier the Frisian tribe is the source of
the Old English language in the entire genre of English (Smedley 2018). The gradual languages
evolved from this dialect are Anglic languages in the region of British isle and Frisian language
in the Low German continents. With the changing time Old English evolved into Middle English
and initially it took the final image of Modern English. This is the historical background about
the evolved English language. This paper will demonstrate the literary sources on learning
English language and the probable challenges one can face to acquire the language (Altbach
2013). For this purpose, the paper will describe the methodology, literature review, action
research, and background of the study. At the end of the research, the paper will describe a short
reflection on the entire research work.

Research objectives:
To research about the learning procedure of English language.
To analyze probable problems faced during the learning phase of English language.
Research questions:
How to learn English language with proper background of its origin?
What are the probable problems that a learner can face during the learning phase of
English language?
Discussion:
Learning English language can be a tricky task to the new learners. Particularly students
from non-English-speaking country face difficulty in acquiring knowledge about the language
and properly implement the knowledge into real life practice. This section will discuss about
some existing literary works on the similar topic to enhance the richness of the research paper.
Literature review:
According to the researches, a non-English-speaker always defined against the positive
position of the native speakers. However, be it a native or non-native speaker of English
language incorporates with the notion of linguistic, economic, and social incorporation of
controversy (Wimolmas 2013). This group of researcher claim that the urgency of English
language teaching originated from the Commonwealth Conference held on the teaching of
English to be considered as the second language organized at Makarere, Uganda during the year
1961. According to the pedagogy of English language, the authority of English language of the
native English speaker further enhanced by the notion of Chomsky on native speaker and

competence (Braine 2013).According to this notion, an ideal speaker is the person who is a good
listener to the language practice of other native people (Kersaint Thompson and Petkova 2014).
This notion also describes that the concept of perfect speaker is a vague concept. Competence
has a greater connection with the intuitive knowledge about the neatness of grammatical and
ungrammatical language.
Other group of researches claims that English language issues is also a cause of
discrimination in employment. However, this is a rarely mentioned problem and particularly
popular in the field of teaching profession (Burnley 2014). Here, the researchers found an excuse
responsible for this discrimination is the learner show a preference to learn English language
from the native speaker (Noom -Ura 2013). Another set of notion pays importance to the
phenomenon of applied linguistics that gives birth to the book written by Davies on ‘The Native
Speaker in Applied Linguistics’ (Braine 2013).
Combining all the existing literary works on English language and the way to learn it
properly, it is observed that there are several challenges a person can face during the course of
English language learning. The challenges may vary to place to place and the qualification of the
trainer or educator.
Literature gap:
Existing literary sources commonly cover the problems a person can face during the
course of English language learning. However, the researchers lack the evidence on how to learn
English language in spite of having various obstacles in the way of knowledge acquisition.
Hence, the research paper will demonstrate the way to learn English language to serve any
purpose.
