1ICT AND LIFELONG LEARNING Requirement Solutions: 1. Information and Communication Technology or ICT and lifelong learning are related to all types of learning. Nowadays for every new job, a person is needed to know or learn a new technology or skill to achieve success. E-learning is a very good way to enhance those skills and develop lifelong competence. The use of lifelong learning in academics is represented by the means of public libraries and using the internet to gather resources or attend conferences from virtually anywhere. Elderly people in order to develop ICT skills and face the computer challenges in a positive way to simplify life can use lifelong learning in the form of social networking sites like Facebook and Myspace. The various role of ICT networks, mobile learning tools, virtual worlds and web technologies in e-learning as knowledge facilitators for all types of learning settings. The use of ICT is often viewed under three major type of learnings: informal, formal and non-formal learning. 2. Lifelong learning is a way of gaining new skills over time by using the various means of learning available around us including ICT. To become an effective lifelong learner one must have a plan. The person if he or she is a student should take help of their mentors or teachers to enhance their lifelong learning competency level. In corporate and government offices, the people should be provided with vocational training with the help of ICT to maintain their employability standard. Family learning and public libraries combined with ICT can give knowledge free of cost and attract learners who do not want formal education. E-learning is a major tool for developing new skills and become an effective lifelong learner. The use of web 2.0, web 3.0 and M-learning can all be used as effective lifelong learning tools. ICT has thus become the enabler of learning from anywhere and at any time.
2ICT AND LIFELONG LEARNING 3. a) I searched the Google scholar and the internet to find about ICT. Then I used the same resources trying to find the relation between ICT and lifelong learning. I noted down all the means available for leaning via ICT and how one can use them to become a lifelong learner. I used the online resources to identify potential groups who can or who has benefitted from the use of ICT while achieving lifelong learning. b) The task was not a new experience to me. I had never realized that while doing this task I was also using ICT to become a lifelong learner. The essence of lifelong learning is researching and using the resources around us to learn new things or skills. The task was quite enjoyable. c) I learnt that I am myself a lifelong learner and every day I gain knowledge from books, journals or the internet to become a lifelong learner. In fact, every person who uses some resources to gain knowledge becomes a lifelong learner. d) This experience taught me how to use available resources around me and utilizing them to learn new skills. Gaining such skills will be very useful for me in the future as it will keep me updated with current trends and technologies and keep me relevant.
