desires of a small group in the society.
Schizophrenia refers to a mental malfunction that becomes
visible in early adulthood or late adolescence (Cockerham
2016).
It is characterized by hallucinations, cognitive difficulties and
delusions.
It can sometimes be a life long struggle.

Factors promoting marginalization
among the people with mental illness

Social roles access
There exist discrimination attitudes that patients encounter in their day to day life.
Some of them include community prejudices and lack of understanding. This
results to loss of friends, feeling neglected and provokes fear.

Mental health services quality
This refers to the perceived inadequacy of institutions and treatments for mentally
disabled.
There exist lack of collaboration between parents, family members and metal
health practitioners.
Absence of law or legislations protecting the rights of those suffering from mental
disorder has also promoted discrimination.
