Why Electronic Gadgets are not allowed in Some Organisations?
In modern era, use of mobile phones in schools, colleges, and in offices is common.
Although some other electric gadgets like smart watch, camera phone, or pen camera etc. are
not allowed in some sensitive area of organisations. The major reason behind restricting this
type of electronic gadgets in work area is low productivity of employees (Perkins, 2014).
Apart from this, with the help of small camera or camera phone, a person can easily disclose
the secret information about the organisation manufacturing process or organisational policy
to the competitors. Therefore, it can be said that restricting mobile phones in the organisation
helps to protect the business secrets and it also improve the productivity of employees by
eliminating activities during work period. Apart from this, using phones (such as loud music,
unnecessary talk on phone on high voice etc.) may disturb others and make a tough
environment to work (Cascio & Montealegre, 2016). In contrary to this, restricting this type
of gadgets in the organisation limited the way of personal or official communication. For
example, with the help of mobile phone a person can immediately contact with his/her
superior and ask for any information. The person can also intimate the superior or boss about
any urgent problems. Using mobile phone and allowing people to connect with their family
may help the people to be happy and it further leads to the best performance in the
organisation (Stephens & Ford, 2016). In the end, it can be said that it is ethical and moral
right of a person to carry such type of devices in the organisation and it is also the
responsibility of organisational people to use it appropriately during work period.
