Organizations are employing moreand more talent management practices in order to attract the competent and capable employeeand retaining them by employing practices and measures for employees development andsatisfaction as well (Tymon, Stumpf and Doh, 2010). This result in greater employee output andless investment for constantly on-boarding and assimilating new employees into theorganization. 1

The need of high level of talent in modern industries have now moved away from anindustrial or knowledge based system in their functioning and they are relying more and more ontalent based value systems (Cappelli, 2008.). This means that each individual brings somethingunique and special to the organisation in terms of their inherent skills and talent capabilities.Competency management is a crucial part of talent management as this focuses on developingthe employees by enhancing their skills and then retaining them within the organization toenhance the overall performance of the company. This strategy employed by the organizationhelps in enhancing employee performance significantly and develop a positive competitiveenvironment within the organization. The study focuses on analysing the impact of competency management on employeeperformance in the leading IT company, Accenture, India.
