This dissertation explores the impact of exclusion on the well-being of secondary school students. It reviews existing literature on exclusion, assesses the causes behind poor behaviour, and develops strategies to prevent exclusions. The research aims to analyse the behavioural management in education and how it affects the health of secondary school students. The research objectives include exploring and reviewing existing bodies of literature on exclusion, assessing the causes behind pupil’s poor behaviour, and developing strategies to prevent exclusions and how far leadership roles can be used to achieve this. The research questions focus on racism and ableism putting BME, Gypsy Traveller and SEND Students at greater risk of exclusion, the impact of exclusion and do they have reason to believe racism and ableism are part of the reason for exclusion, outcome and change the approach to assessing the need for exclusion, and provision to reduce a repeat occurrence of exclusion and to inform them better on the consequences of exclusion.
