CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION Introduction/ background to the research area Globalisation introduces as a process in which economics of the country have becomeprogressively integrated and inter-dependent. Globalisation has led to growing competition and afinancial shift from developing to emerging economies. (Apăvăloaie, 2014) Globalisation is mosteffective process which promotes a sense of cultural awareness and global economic inter-dependency. Globalisation has different benefits for an organisation such as opens upinternational access, lowers the costs of customer service, levels the competitive playing field,breeds more competition etc. All these are main advantages of globalisation which will supportan enterprise in driving its success and growth at international level. For this project, Primark ischosen fast fashion retailer. Primark was founded in 13 June 1969 by the Arthur Ryan. This company isheadquartered in Dublin, Ireland and also served different area such as United Kingdom, UnitedStares etc. Primark mainly specialise in selling and marketing of clothing, cosmetics andhousewares. Company decide to expand their business in many other countries by developingnew products and services. As it will help an enterprise by improving its growth and success atinternational marketplace. Research aim: Main aim of this research is “To analyse the impact of globalisation onbusiness success of multinational organisation”. A study on Primark. Research Objectives: To develop basic idea regarding the phenomena of globalisation. To identify advantages of globalisation on business success of Primark. To analyse ways by which Primark can enhance their success at international level. Research questions: Are you have any idea regarding the phenomena of globalisation. What are the effective ways by which Primark can enhance their success at internationallevel. Rationale of research:Rationale behind conducting this investigation is to understand effectiveness ofglobalisation process in driving business success of Primark. This investigation supports incollecting information or data about the changes that globalisation brings within the businessoperations performed in retail industry and ways in which globalisation support in influencingthe customer's choice. By conducting this research investigator will be capable to find out theimportance of globalisation within the success of Primark. This investigation when applied foracademicals purpose assist reader in enhancing their knowledge about the globalisation and roleit plays within the growth as well as success of an organisation (Ciocoiu and et. al., 2013).Further, it also supports in developing an accurate understanding about the some challenges thatare required to be faced by company while performing their operations in global level. Alongwith this, this investigation will also support a researcher by increasing its skills in some fieldssuch as literature review, data collection, data analysis etc. Overall with the help of this study, anorganisation is aware regarding the significance of globalisation on business success anddevelopment. Literature review is a systematic process which will be applied by researcher in order toidentifying perception of different authors or writers regarding the effect of globalisation processon business success of multinational organisation i.e. Primark. Phenomena or concept of globalisation. As per the opinion of Beverly Bird And Carol Kopp, globalisation is the spread oftechnology, information, jobs and product across domestic cultures. Along with this,globalisation is a political, legal, political and cultural phenomena which will help anorganisation in its development and growth at international level. Globalisation is a process ofintegration as well as interaction among the organisations, legal authorities and group of variousnations. This process is driven by global trade and investment and supported by informationtechnology. Likewise, for people, corporations and centuries have invested in business in other2

nations. Along with this, globalisation has impacts on the culture and on the environment. It willalso effect on economic development, political system and human physical well-being incommunities around the globe. On the other hand, John Williamson, 2019, globalisation refers to the integration ofmarkets in the international economy which is leading to maximised interconnectedness ofdomestic economies. There are some markets where globalisation is specially common considerfinancial markets, such as money market, credit markets, capital markets, commodity markets,insurance markets, including markets for tin, oil, coffee and gold, and product markets. Advantages of globalisation on business success of Primark. As per the view of Jim Riley, 2017, globalisation introduces to the increasing integrationand interaction of the global economies. Primark is a multinational organisation which helped inother nations in different ways. It includes, providing of employment, direct inward investment,supports domestic organisation, national reputation, increasing choice and transnational paytaxes on their earnings which can assist government revenues. Along with this, globalisationplay most significant role in driving business development at international level. It encouragesconsumers and producers to goodness from deeper division of economics of scale and labour.Globalisation enhanced awareness among customers of challenges from wealth inequality andclimate change. On the other hand Kartikeya Bahl, 2016, there are different another advantages ofglobalisation which will help Primark in its development and growth internationally. Increase inemployment opportunities, increase in free trade, faster flow of information, increase in qualityof products and services, decrease in price of goods and services, reduction in cultural barriersetc. are identify main advantages of globalisation. These benefits help an enterprise inimprovement of its success and growth as well as also assist them to gain competitive advantageswithin given time duration. According to the Crystal Ayres, 2019, globalisation helps Primark to pool their resourceswith purpose of build better and bigger things. It would limit the chances for labour exploitationwhich will help an enterprise in its growth and success at global level. Globalisation allows anorganisation for better communication which will help an them to communicate each informationabout the product and service to their employees and customers also. As it will help Primark inretaining employees for long time and maintaining strong relationship with customers. 3

According to the Surugiu and Surugiu, 2015, there are numerous ways by which Primarkcan easily improve their success and growth at international level. Focus on substantivepromotion, adherence of international legislature and focus on optimisation of quality areidentify most essential ways for Primark to improve their success at global level. All these waysare determined under in detail form: Focus on substantive promotion: Promotion is most essential and useful way for anenterprise to promote their products and services at international market. There are differentways of promotion such as social media marketing, Facebook, twitter, Instagram etc. All theseare most significant ways for Primark to use and advertise their products. As it will an enterpriseby maximising customer base and also increasing sales at marketplace. Adherence of international legislature: It will also consider most important and usefulway for Primark to follow each rules and regulations of government in appropriate manner.Proper study about government's rules and regulation will help an enterprise in its success anddevelopment at international level. Focus on optimisation of quality: It is essential and useful way which must be follow byPrimark. Company must provide quality products and services to their customers which will helpthem in maximisation of customer base. It will also aid an organization by improving its brandimage and market position. Thus, optimisation of quality will assist an organisation in its growthand success at international level. Chapter 3: MethodologyResearch methodology is an useful process which is adopted by researcher to accumulatedata and information in appropriate manner. The methodology may include interviews,questionnaire, surveys, publication research and many other research techniques (Dima, Grabaraand Vladutescu, 2014). On the other part, quantitative research is an effective kind of research that relies on thedifferent methods, which produces hard facts and numerical information regarding theglobalisation. Both types of approach are valuable but for current study, qualitative approach willbe applied (Dima, 2014). With the assist of this approach, questionnaire will be made and it helpan investigator by providing relevant data or information about the process of globalisation. Research Techniques: There are various research techniques which is case study,modelling, questionnaire, interview and so on. These are effective techniques which will help inaccumulation of accurate data about the role of globalisation on business success. As per thecurrent topic, questionnaire will be used because it will help in collection of reliable or validinformation regarding the impact of globalisation (Jean-Yves and Loïc, 2013). Data collection: There are two methods for gathering data such as primary andsecondary. For gathering primary information, questionnaire is one of the best source. On theother side, for collection secondary data (Lasserre, 2017). Books, publication research, articles,magazines etc. are useful sources. Along with this, both primary and secondary sources of datacollection methods will be applied for collection in-depth and reliable information regarding thecontribution of globalisation in business success and growth of Primark. Analytical Technique: In order to analysis appropriate and relevant information aboutthe significance of globalisation, thematic analysis will be used for this research project. In thiscase, various number of themes will be developed over each questions (Mangra, Cotoc andDumitru, 2014). As it will directly help an investigator to analyse valid and reliable informationeffectively and without wasting any time. This technique is also important for an investigator tocomplete research within given time period. Timeline of research activities: Time to conduct an investigation can be determinedwith the use of Gantt Chart. It is an effective technique and tool which shows information invertical form (Muscalu, 2014). In this chart, different activities will be covered such asintroduction, development of aims and objectives, literature review, research methodology etc. 5
