2.1 Impact of health and safety legislation on travel and tourism sector
Tempo Holidays' is the UK based tour operator and it is proving services to many countries. It has retain travel centres
in the UK that are operating in the country very well.
The main objective behind the legislation n tour and travel sector is to provide protection to the passenger and
determine the rights and obligations of the tourism industry. It also covers the health and security measures that are
required to provide to the passenger.
Health and safety commission provides many measures to provide safety to the others. It has following other options
as-
 Guidance: Health and safety commission makes the people aware of the legislation that are made for the
safety of the passenger. It also provides the technical guidance to the others.
 Approval codes of practice: It provides the rules and regulations for the guidance where the employer has
opted hazardous material. It provides the employer liability where there is breach in health and safety laws.
Employer Duties Employee Duties
To keep the first aid kit in the place where the
people are working.
To report to the employer where any loss is
occurred.
To provide the safe and healthy environment to
the employee.

2.2 Legislation of equality
Equality means to treat all the member on equal grounds. It is important for the organisation to treat their employees
equally and to provide equal services to the employees. The legislation provides instruction to the travel operator to
provide equal treatment and there is no discrimination on the basis of age, caste, creed and gender.
The equality act 2010 provides the regulation that provide equal treatment to all the citizen and to
all the employees. This act is combination of many act as Sex discrimination act, employment
equality regulations, race relation act etc.
Various kind of discrimination covered under the legislation are as follows-

 Direct
When a person treats other unequally on the basis of law.
 Indirect
When a number of individual are treated unequally and kept away from the facility and amenity
that is provided to the other.
 Perceptive
In this, a individual is treated unequally due to having or not having special character.
 Harassment
When a person is treated unequally due to the unwanted behaviour. In this a person is
discriminated due to the something happened in the past.
 Disability
Sex discrimination act 1975 provides the adequate protection to the men and women on all the
grounds of the related discrimination. It protects the right of the individual to the employment,
training and education. The race discrimination act provides protection to the individual from the
harassment that are based on race, colour and on the basis of nationality. The disability
discrimination act 2005 provides the protection to the individual if any discrimination is made on
the basis of disability.
It is required for the organisation to provide equal treatment to all the employees of the company
so that it created health environment in the work place. There must not be any discrimination
among the employees of the company. If there is any discrimination then employee can make
complain to the top management. It provides healthy environment to the organisation. The people
who are associated with the organisation can work more efficiently in the organisation when there
is no discrimination among the employees of the company.
