1. PROBLEM STATEMENT
Business management is the coordination of business activities in order to achieve set goals
and objectives. According to (KOVALSKA, 2012)management is often included as a factor
of production with the main task revolving around marketing and innovation (Zang, 2016). It
is concerned with the utilization of the available business resources to maximize the profits of
the business (Fukawa, 2015). Managers and management personnel have integrated business
management (Wilfried, 2014) by adopting the use of information technology to minimize
losses resulting from operational risks (van Wassenaer, 2009). According to (Frey, 2016)
74% of the Australian industries have impressed the integration of information technology
into business management (Danilova, 2018) as a strategy to achieve their objective.
The uptake of the information technology to manage the business in Australia is increasing
tremendously (Jeffrey E. Kottemann, 2009), yet significant studies have never been
conducted to assess its impacts and effectiveness in Australian industries (Shahiduzzaman,
2014). This study, therefore, seeks to assess the impact of information technology in
managing the business. The impacts of information technology we are concerned in this study
is based on the change of business strategy, improved investment in the new business
technologies, introduction of the training programs for better skilled staff, review of staff
performance, upgraded cybersecurity software and measurement of the contribution of
information technology to overall performance of the business.
2. AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
The research proposal aims to investigate the impact of information technology and its
effectiveness in managing the business. Business management is measured by the overall
performance of the industries in Australia. The objectives are;
Investigate the change of business strategy
Asses the improvement of the investment in the new business technology
Investigate the upgrade of cybersecurity software
Evaluate the overall business performance
Investigate the inception of the training programs to upskill staff
4. METHODOLOGY
This study will use a mixed methodology to properly assess the impacts of
information technology and its effectiveness in the management of the business.

Literature review - To assess the current uptake of information technology in
managing the business, the study is going to adopt proper literature review of
resources that includes data from the government, reports from Australian industries
and academic journals
Collection of the data -The study will use secondary data collected from the
government of Australia and industries
Interviews –Secondary data will be used as the main source of data; however, this
study will also conduct interviews from the stakeholders of the major industries in
Australia. Together with the key findings from the secondary data, these will assist in
assessing the use of information technology in business management.
5. SECONDARY DATA
Secondary data obtained online from the statistics bureau of Australia website as the main
data source. The variables deemed effective in assessing the impact of information
technology in the management of business is measured in the data and it involves change of
business strategy, improved investment in the new business technologies, introduction of the
training programs for better-skilled staff, review of staff performance, upgraded cybersecurity
software and measurement of the contribution of information technology to overall
performance of the business.
6. DATA ANALYSIS METHODS
Data is going to be analyzed in excel using a data analysis tool pack (Kabileshkumar G.
Cheetancheri, 209). Demographic characteristics such as age and gender and their
relationship are going to be analyzed by the use of frequency analysis. Correlation
analysis is going to be adopted to determine the relationship between the variables and the
overall business performance as a result of uptake of the information technology.
