Topic: Impact of project management methodologies (agile) to increase project success rates
Research Background and Justification
This study will highlight the impact of project management methodologies (agile) to
increase project success rates. It is evident that failure of projects will resulted in losses of
more than billions and it is not restricted to a particular sector. Project methodologies have
been developed so that the problem of low success rate in different projects can be reduced.
Therefore, different tools, techniques and guidelines have been established so that failures
can be avoided as much as possible. The correct choice of methodology is therefore, very
crucial in increasing the chances for the project to succeed (Serrador & Pinto, 2015). Agile
methodology is one of the software development methodologies used for increasing the
interaction with the consumers by providing them with products after each iteration. In
conventional project management techniques, it is not feasible to change or modify during the
end phases however, agile project management provides the opportunity of changing the
product specification even at the last phase. The complexity of the projects is reduced by
using agile management as it breaks the project into several iterations and develops the
product after each iteration (Kerzner & Kerzner, 2017). The needs of the consumers are
changing rapidly and the project managers face difficulty in balancing the project cost,
personnel, risk, quality, adapting and reporting. Agile methodologies have become one of the
best ways of handling such issues in project management. This study will illustrate the
significance of project management methodologies especially agile for increasing the success
rate of projects.
