3RESEARCH METHODChapter 1: Introduction1.0. IntroductionThis research aims to find the impact of thetechnological convergenceon the annualrevenue of the organization. Luoet al. (2012) stated that convergence culture refers to a statewhere old and new media intersect and new technology is developed. Theconvergence oftechnologyresults in better outcome and advance result of the organization’s performance.Geumet al. (2012) also describe that from traditional world to contemporary times technologyinvolves old media and new media that not only reduce the space issue but handling of thetechnology is also become easy. In this chapter, the background of the study, detail of thecompany, aim of the research, research objectives and research question is also discussed.1.1. Background of the studyThe importance of digital or technological convergence is to provide competitiveadvantage to the organization. Gauch and Blind (2015) illustrate some example of technologicalconvergence among which one is video games that can include television now so that people canthe real sensation of being on the gaming field. Another example is the mobile phone thatperforms the work of clock, calendar, music system, video recorder. Mobile phone can alsoperform the operation of accessing email and control an entire system. Grubicka and Matuska(2015) also stated that convergence can be obtained through out daily life also like people usemultiple media technology at a single time that is listening to music while watching television.Cultural convergence thus refers to a situation where audience becomes user and companies usethis technology to generate effective low-cost contents and high profitability.
