Title- Impact of HR practice on work environment & employee retention: An exploratory
study on the State Audit Institution in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Overview and significance of the proposed study
The UAE is found to be the federation of seven emirates in the entire Arabian Peninsula.
The UAE is also one significant economic found in the hub of the Middle East. Notably, in the
recent years, it is developed rapidly into one dynamic and such global economy with the help of
the influx of some foreign ideas along with the practices that are facilitated by the growth of
technologies and internet. The impact of the human resource practices on the work environment
of state audit institution, Abu Dhabi and the employee retention are central to this study. The
State Audit Institution is an independent institution that was set up in the year 1976 for
investigating any such financial irregularities which are uncovered in the federal organizations.
The organizations that are audited belong to the ministries, the federal national councils and the
corporations where the country has some stake (Hassan, 2016). The increase of the globalization
has led to the enhancement of migration, the rise of the national and international labour, high
rates of the turnovers of staffs, the low retention levels and clash between the organizational
cultures in the entire workforce.
The processes of the global interlinking of all economies have been extremely accelerated
through the development of technology that has intensified the competition in the whole business
environment of today (Masri & Jaaron, 2017). There is further a recognition of increase in the
global trade which is quite facilitated through the technological advancement, the transportation
and the communication. In this type of the economic environment, employee retention has
become an significant aspect for the human resource managers along with the organizational

leaders (Dumont, Shen & Deng, 2017). This is due to the fact that there are many such HR
practices that leave impact on the organizational environment and the employee retention.
This study will explore the employee retention issues in the UAE with providing special
elaboration on the State Audit Institution of Abu Dhabi. The study has both the theoretical and
the practical significance since it strongly advances the knowledge and the realization of the way
the key variables of retention may affect the retention of the employees. It can be used also for
assisting the public organizations in terms of formulating the strategies and increase the rates of
retention, the organizational commitment and the job satisfaction of the employees. The study
will further provide some new data for testing the western theories along with the assumptions
that are found in the studies of HRM regarding the retention of the employees. This specific
research actually differs from some other studies and develops a theoretical framework too and
the outcomes of the study are intended to improve the policies of UAE on the selection
processes, the staff recruitment and the organizational developments.
Aim and the objectives
The aim of the study is to determine the impact of HR practices on the work environment
and employee retention in the State Audit Institution, Abu Dhabi (UAE).
Objectives
1. To analyse the extent to which the HRM practices along with the organizational culture
in Abu Dhabi may affect the employee retention in State Audit Institution (UAE).
2. To explore the challenges faced by State Audit Institution connected to the retention of
the staffs.
