Critical analysis of relationship between ’being a professional’ and ‘Working as part of a team’INTRODUCTIONProfessionalism means to follow code of ethics, standards of an organization, fulfil respectiveroles and responsibilities, and safeguard health and wellbeing of others. In healthcare sector it isimportant for all the healthcare professionals to work in a professional manner (Franz & et.al.2018). There is a strong relationship between working as a part of a team and being aprofessional. In other words, an individual cannot work as a part of a team without being aprofessional. This assignment will lay emphasis on ‘critical analysis and discussion ofrelationship between the theoretical construct of being a professional and working as a part of ateam’.CRITICAL ANALYSISIn healthcare organizations it is important for staff members to build a professionalrelationship with their colleagues as well as with the patients. Each employee working in ahealthcare sector should know what being a professional means and how to enhance their workand learn new things being a professional (Collins, Dumas & Moyer, 2017). Being a professionalmeans to adhere to the codes, standard of conduct, nursing or midwife ethics and performance.There is a strong relationship between working in a team and being professional. One can onlywork within a team efficiently when they understand what being a professional mean and startbehaving accordingly. For an undergraduate registered nurse who is about to start their career asa registered nurse, it is extremely important for them to work within team or work as a part of ateam professionally. There are four main principles on the basis of which nursing is basedcompletely. First is to take care of people, treat them as individuals and respect their dignity.Second is to work as a part of a team with others, so they can promote and protect wellbeing andhealth of their patients, their families and the community of which they are a part of. Third is toprovide a high standard of care and practise at all the times. And last is to be honest, open, actwith integrity and uphold reputation of their profession. It is important and a compulsion for allthe nurses to adhere these principles in order to become a professional nurse. A healthcareorganization has various departments and each department has a team to be worked on. It is oneof basic moral responsibility of a nurse to work and put efforts with all the healthcare teams. It is1
