CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
Employee empowerment, basically refer to a process that helps employers in giving
authority to staff to a certain level, where they can take decisions by their own while performing
a particular task (What is Empowerment?, 2019). Along with this, it can be said that employee
empowerment is said to be one of the crucial approach that is required for a company to enhance
the overall performance level of its productivity at workplace. In present time, there are many
examples within the hospitality sector came in front that, where employees within the company
go through range of issues like they do not get authority to take decisions by their own.
1.2 Background of research
The Grosvenor Hotel is known for its best customer service, where to serve the same it
has given employment to empowerment and after offering this, United Kingdom's finest hotel
will directly start getting higher profits and productivity. But to manage the empowerment, this
hotel is facing a number of challenges also (Noe and et. al., 2017). The present research helps in
analysing the key importance of employees empowerment and process by which it can be
managed as well. The issue was that, The Grosvenor Hotel's managers were utilising autocratic
leadership style where the decisions were being made by them only and there was no authority
given to to employees so that they could take actions by their own and regards to task that are
required to be done within the organisation.
1.3 Rationale of research
The main reason behind chosen of this topic i.e. “improving the employees empowerment”
is to analyse how a company deals with challenges of this process and gain opportunity by
developing the same. This would help researchers in understanding the concept of employees
empowerment and its importance of global companies that deal in hospitality industry
(Kakabadse and Bank, 2018). Another reason behind conducting this investigation on chosen
topic is self interest of the researcher.

CHAPTER 2: LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 To understand the concept of employee empowerment.
According to Hislop, Bosua and Helms, (2018), employee empowerment is a systematic
procedures of giving authority and responsibilities to employee by employer for completing the
task assigned by management for successful growth of any organisations. In reference with The
Grosvenor Hotel, the managers have to distribute power and role according to designated job
described to every employee's, so that they feel motivated while performing operational
activities. The decision which is taken by each individual in a team allows them to innovatively
think, plan and act accurately taking into consideration proper allocation of all resources in every
department for managing the flow of activities performed in hotel. Employee empowerment
create an environment of mutual trust, accountability between employee-employer, employee-
employee and employer-employer which result in cordial relationship in work culture. It is very
important in retaining quality staff and improving operational performance of employees which
gives major influence on attaining goals of business in order for capturing competitive
advantage in hospitality industries (To Be a Better Leader, Give Up Authority, 2019). When
power are distributed to each employee, it results in raising satisfaction level within staff
members that gives freedom to work effectively and efficiently in producing quality in services
to guest. These initiatives taken by management will enhance growth, from perspectives of both
employee consumer in context with brand loyalty.
2.2 Employee empowerment can be raised within The Grosvenor Hotel
According to Wrench, (2016), employee empowerment must be weaved on daily roles and
responsibilities of employees. Organisation like Grosvenor Hotel ensures that the management
facilitate, inspires and support individuals to take steps by which their work experience can be
improvised, work engagement can be increased as well assist in formulation of inclusive culture.
The management can give authority and ownership for handling out some responsibilities
associated with new project. When employees carry out small tasks by themselves then it
