Leadership is a term which plays a significant role in business and digital transformation,
digital technology is the factor that can be used by any sector of the business in order to
create potential and value in the eyes of customers. The report is going to highlight the role
and value of leadership in new digital business as during Covid-19, digital transformation has

helped the businesses to succeed even in the hardest circumstances. The project will
elaborate the ways in which the topic is developed that is “Importance of leadership for
new digital business”. There are various ways of technology which are used in leadership
will also be covered in the report (Schönsleben, 2018).
1.1 Why you deem this topic to be of importance.
Leadership is considered to be the vital function in an organisation which allows the
company to increase the overall efficiency and in attaining the targeted goals of the
organisation (Boamah, Zhang and Miah, 2021). As the world is changing and the business is
shifting online, it is required to meet the high demands of the customers by making use of
digital experience. Along with it, the companies and organisations have some software that
allows them to operate better in the daily operations of the business.
1.2 How this topic has developed
The topic that is “Importance of leadership for new digital business” has developed these
days and it is essential for the companies for the aim of organizing the company better and
also due to proper digitalisation the management is able to understand the customers and
employees better. While implementing the digital change to the business, company make
use of various digital tools for the purpose of communicating better with the employees and
customers. Changes can be confusing for some employees that is why it is the main duty of
the leaders to help the teams with the technology so that the workload of the employees
can be reduced. And further value can be added to the business (Näsman, 2018). For any
business, it is not enough to improve the market share and companies should find new ways
to adopt the relevant practises in order to deal with the competition of the market. While
implementing the digitalisation, the main challenge is that employees do not accept new
technologies and policies easily, another challenge is the size of the company because it will
be harder to convince the employees to accept the change.

for?
The company can make use of various technologies that brings together the best tools for
the companies because for the management there are so many software options which are

available for the company. Such technologies are available to keep the business updated.
For example, word processing, cloud computing, project management, accounting, file
sharing, machine learning, mobile applications, digital assistants, emailing clients, artificial
intelligence, VoIP and many others.
Above mentioned technologies are used for to enhance the efficiency and productivity of
the operations. Also, such tools and technologies are used to safeguard the data in order to
take the important decisions that leads to the competitive advantages (Choi and Luo, 2019).
1.4 What technological platforms and software are used in the topic e. What type
of business and organisation uses the technology?
Nowadays almost all business uses the digital platform to share information with the clients
or audience that is why the companies have variety of tools and techniques and the
companies are also investing in the technology globally such as social media. Various tools,
platforms, or software are explained below-
 Cloud computing-It includes various services such as storage, databases and
analytics which assists the company to be more innovative, faster and with more
flexible resources. It is the best for such companies which can not afford their own
data centres and computing infrastructure. Companies can avail such services by
having rent access which also reduces the expenses of maintaining heavy IT
infrastructures.
 Word processing- It helps the companies to make text related content by typing and
it also comprises of having number of tools which are used to format the data. For
example, a company can use it to make a marketing plan in order to promote the
product or making a new policy for the human resources.
 Digital assistants- This is an advanced computer program that supports the
companies to meet the demands for various productivity with better quality. These
are also represented by technologies like voice assistances, chatbots and many
others.
1.5 How is it used as a business tool and is this effective?
Technology is considered as a gift for the humans because as the competition is increasing
day by day so, it become difficult for the companies to adopt the changes quickly (Ferkins,
Shilbury and O’Boyle, 2018). In that case, technology helps the business to keep up with the
changing market as technology has changed every aspect of life at a fast pace. The tools are
effective because these are required to maintain the level of communication as the workers
on the field are tend to be connected with the management. Technology is essential in the
operations of the company as it allows to reduce the chances of duplications and errors.
Without proper technology, the company will not be able to save more time by being more

productive and competitive. These tools are effective as it also keeps the data safe of the
clients and employees. One of the main roles of the technology in the business is to elevate
the level of growth by improving the operations of the company. Various companies and
industries use such tools and technologies to improve its business communication,
inventory management, financial record-keeping and production level (Kappelman and
et.al.,2019).

The relationship between digital technologies and both old and newly emerging theories on
business and management structures and practices are explained below-
As the technology is getting advance, that has led to bring new devices that provides the
support to the company by increasing the profits and keeping the customers happy (Qiu and
Pesch, 2019). Technology has created a major impact on various aspects that is the culture,
efficiency, and the customers. There are various tasks of the company like file keeping,
accounting, inventory management for that company need technology and digitalisation to
perform the above-mentioned tasks. There is a direct relationship between the digital
technologies and the management as the companies has started making use of various
technology tools to improve the customers services such as-
Social Media- The company take help of the online community that acts as a link between
the company and customers such as the queries, questions, doubts or complaints can also
be sorted by using this platform.
E-mail- On the other hand, Email is said to be the traditional way of communicating with the
customers as this is used to explain about the features of the products or about a new
product that is going to be launched in the market. This technology is used as a channel for
marketing campaigns or to make any changes in the campaigns.
Websites- Before digitalisation, website used to be the link between the customers and the
company and now it is used as a marketing tool (Elding and Morris, 2018). In the era of
social media and digitalisation, having a website is a must as it presents the image of the
company Infront of the customers. Once the company has a website then the company has
more visitors which can be converted into the leads in the future.
The organisation has various departments that is related with the material, human,
informational, financial resources of the company. Due to technological changes, the
companies get affected as it will lead to increase the need of new people who have
managerial, social and diplomatic skills. Due to new technologies, the businesses get the
chance of improving its marketing tactics that would help in the growth of the business. Due

to technology, it has now become easier and more accessible to have a successful business.
When any company start its business then it is required to delegate the work and the tasks
such as managers, social media manger, marketing expert, account executives and many
others. The technology has become the lifeline of the businesses and also the customers are
spending their precious time on social media too that is why it is important for the company
to take care of its customers and the investors. The company should make sure that the
customers are satisfied with the services they are getting from the business. Technology is a
link to the world as it has a wide reach in the world because the internet plays an essential
role in the marketing campaigns too. The new world is made up of connected devices,
artificial intelligence or various solutions which allows the company to work better
(McKenna and Roone, 2019).
Technology allows the company to have various ways to collaborate with the team
and the leadership requires better communication that can be implemented by using
Dropbox, Skype, email, social media and many others. Technology has the capability to
make the company more productive and the with the help of technology leaders make the
positive work environment for the employees who are committed towards the goals of the
company. The impact of technology on leadership is significant and the benefits are many.
That is why, one thing that remains a challenge for all the leaders across the world is to
make use of right technology at the right time and in the right ways (Oc, 2018). One of the
main goals of technology is to make the things more affordable for the people as people
make notice of cost of products. An effective digital leader is one who knows the goals of
the business and they give importance to the communication and creativity so that the new
ways of technology can be explored to help the business tasks.
Due to digitalisation, the company can have a better digital culture, by having productive
employees that will directly enhance the level customer satisfaction and more revenue. The
whole concept of digitalisation is growing up fast and that is why it is gaining popularity in
the market because it allows to improve the work environment that leads to employee
motivation and high productivity. Digital skills comprise of the knowledge that has the ability
to evaluate and understand the need of resources in the company which brings the digital
roadmap in the digital leadership (Rosenbach, 2018).

From the above analysis, it can be said that digital transformation is main in all the areas of
the operations of the company as it is related to affect the relationship with customers by
keeping them satisfied and by providing them quality products. The report presented the
significance of leadership in reference to the digital business because the companies are
required to take bold steps and adopt experiments with the various failures to be more
successful in the business. As the world is changing, there are various tools and techniques
which are available for the companies. With the help of this report, various tools were
evaluated which contribute a lot in success of the company for better functioning of the
operations.
