INTRODUCTION
Leadership can be defined as the skills of individual which influences the individual or the
group of people in order to motivate them regarding their set goals and objectives. Leadership helps
in making the decision of the business organization and helps in gaining the competitive advantages
in the marketplace. It is not easy to become a leader. A leader is a person who motivates its
followers and helps them in enhancing their productivity in an effective manner. There are different
quality that the leader have which helps in guiding the individual as well as the whole team. These
qualities are vision, inspiration, critical and strategical thinking and many others(Andersen, 2018).
The chosen organization for the completion of the report is Tesco. the report includes the
brief description of leadership, its benefit to the organization and the challenges faced by the
business in adopting the leadership. The report also includes the different benefits of leadership to
the employer and the employees of he company.

Background of Leadership
The leadership concept was proposed by the warren Bennis in early of 1950. according to them
leadership is a important aspects in running the business in a smooth manner. It is the behavioural
quality of the person whereby guiding the individual or their activity in organized efforts. More than
30 books on leadership was written by him. They introduces different leadership styles and the
qualities of the leader. He also said that the process of becoming leader is similar if not similar, to
become a integrated human being(Guthrie and Jenkins, 2018).
Importance of leadership
It has been said that while not leadership, all alternative business components lie dormant. sturdy
leaders will facilitate a corporation to maximise productivity and reach business goals, whereas
weak leadership can hurt productivity and place the health of the business in hazard. Leadership
isn't one blanket characteristic that cures all ills, however, there are many various elements that has
to be gift for an organization’s leadership to be thought of adequate. There are different effective
and in-effective styles of leader.

Identification of possible benefits to the organization linked to leadership.
The leadership is very beneficial to the organization as it helps in many solving consultation
issues of the organization such as-
 Implement vision and values: the vision of very firm is to attain its future goals and in
what manner the stakeholder, client and wider community of the organization would
perceived these mission and values. A strong leader has the ability to remind the staff about
the vision and values and also helps in remaining it in their day to day actions. The leader of
Tesco helps the employees in attain the set vision and values.
 Boosts moral: the employees are the key elements of any business. The business can not
sustain without the skilled and knowledgable employees. Boosting the moral of the
employees help them in performing the work with full efficiency. The leadership helps the
Tesco in boosting the moral of its employees which result in increasing their productivity
and the efficiency of work.
 Motivates employees: motivated employees are very crucial for the organization because
after the motivation the employees perform his duty in an effective manner. The one of the
main benefit of adopting the leadership is that it helps in motivating the employees which
alternately helps in boosting the productivity and helps in achieving the objectives of the
company.
Identification of possible challenges faced by organization in adopting the leadership.
There are different challenges that Tesco faced in context with the leadership is given
as(Kwan, 2020)-
 Management of stakeholder: it is measured as one of the leadership challenges faced by
the organization in managing the politics, relationship and the representation in the working
business environment. It involves different aspects such as influencing others, gaining
managerial support and many more from other sector of business, individual or
group(Wesche and Sonderegger, 2019).
 Guiding change: the leadership challenges that Tesco is facing in today's world is
managing, understanding and mobilizing all the elements of the business at same time. The
knowledge and skill is needed to mitigate consequences and overcome the resistance to
change.
 Leading a team: the leader has the ability to lead and guide the team of the organization.
But leading the team of more than 1000 peoples is a challenge. Tesco is multinational
company where more than 360000 employees work in a team and leading the these team is
the most challenging task for the leader.

 Communication gap- the one of the biggest challenge that the organization is facing is the
communication gap. Because adopting a leadership in the business changes the overall
working of the environment. In context with Tesco, if the company adopt the leadership then
it will be very difficult for the organization to train their existing employees as per the new
guidelines made by the new leader which can take lots of time, money and other factor.
What does or does not benefit the employer and employees in context with leadership.
The benefits that leadership provide to the employer and the employees of the company
 the leadership helps the employer and the employees of the Tesco in providing focus and
drives in order to move the team forward.
 The leader is the person who motivates its follower in order to achieve their goals and
objectives. The leader of Tesco helps the employer and employees to empower them so that
they can work with their full capability.
 The good leader helps its employees in taking several decisions regarding the organization.
The benefit of leader to the employer and the employees is that the leader took various
positive decision regarding the employer as well as employees of Tesco.
The term that does not benefit the employees of the company in regards with leadership
 if the leader is not motivated the employees of the Tesco will also not motivated towards
there work and they does not perform with full efficiency(Uhl and Arena, 2018).
 The drawback of this is that not every employees like the decision of leadership because
some of them like to work alone without in the guidance of leader.
 Leadership affects the independence of the employees in a company. The employer or
employees feel lack of freedom when it is mandatory for them to follow the orders of the
leaders.
What are benefits and challenges that other business experienced.
There are different benefits and challenges faced by ASDA company in context with the
leadership. ASDA is a British supermarket chain whose headquarter is located in Leeds, UK. It was
founded in 1949 by Peter and Fred Asquith(Oc, 2018). The benefits that the company experienced
are given as-
 leadership helps in providing appropriate resources to the ASDA. The use of proper tool is
very important in the performance of work effectively. It is the duty of leadership to provide
everything that the employees of company wants so as to carry out the work effectively.
 Leaders have different skills which creates a positive impact of the environment of the

business. They et various agenda, prioritize work, delegate, lead and many more which
helps in achieving the set goals and objectives of the organization.
Challenges faced by ASDA in context wit the leadership are as following-
 The one of the major challenges that the company is facing is the decision making time of
the leaders. The leaders took lots of time in making decisions to critical situations.
 The challenges that company faces in context to leadership is that leaders are unable to
motivate large number of peoples. The leader faces difficulty in motivating the group of
employees which act as a challenge to the company which decrease the overall work
efficiency of employees(Rosari, 2019).
CONCLUSION
From the above information, it has been concluded that leadership helps in increasing the
work efficiency of the employees by motivating them towards there works. Leadership plays vital
role in improving the efficiency of the resources. There are different benefits that organization is
experiencing in today's scenario by introducing the leadership such as boost the moral of
employees, implement the vision and values and many more, form the above data it has been
concluded that the organization is facing different challenges after adopting the leadership in their
work. The leadership benefits the employees of the company so that they can work hard in order to
attain the objectives as well as set goals of the business enterprises. At last the report explained the
benefit experiences and challenges that other organization is experiencing rather than selected
organization.
