Description -What happened in the immersive simulation resilience
scenario?
I learnt several skills during our class on the importance of resilience in the
health of an individual and healthcare as a whole. One of the most important
skills that I learnt during the study was the use of immersive simulation to
transfer what we learnt in class into practice. Together with my colleagues, we
attended several simulation sessions in the company of our subject coordinator
who ensured that we understood almost everything in the sessions. Some
students acted like patients and we performed immersive simulation on them to
relate the representation with real-life situations in the provision of care. The
class coordinator ensured that we were doing the right thing by assessing our
performance and giving us any necessary feedback. We all worked as a group to
ensure that everyone was moving at almost the same pace to avoid leaving any
slow learners behind.
Feelings- What were you thinking or feeling during the scenario?
I decided to perform further research on the importance of simulation in clinical
practice and healthcare. I laid special emphasis on immersive simulation. I was
excited to find out that a lot of researchers acknowledged the importance of
immersive simulation in healthcare and clinical practice. I felt more confident
with myself because I knew this exercise was going to help me in transferring the
theoretical knowledge I gained in class into real-life practice. The coordinator
assured us that after the sessions we would feel more confident in performing
clinical procedures in future. This assurance filled us with hope and desire to
work harder and develop our skills even further. Personally, my confidence
increased with every passing session and I was excited about the future. I can
confirm that I feel that these sessions will massively help me in my future
practice.

Evaluation - What was good/bad about the simulation? What impact did
the simulation have upon you? Include references in this section.
Immersive simulation resilience is a type of exercise that is used to help nursing
students in finding exposure with complex clinical scenarios before they can
move to real-life clinical settings (Adair, Akers, Low & Bull, 2018). Almost
everything went good with the simulation because it provided a learning
environment that was aimed at preparing us for the transition to working in the
clinical setting. A perfectly simulated scenario is designed to include several
areas of practice and these areas are presented in a well-structured manner
(Najjar, Lyman, & Miehl, 2015). Immersive simulation for resilience helps in
understanding the fighting spirit people have in training and exercise (Bull &
Adair, 2018). I was very confident in performing immersive simulation but could
not act as a simulated patient in some cases because I was not resilient enough
to overcome difficulties in the scenario.

The scenario was a good learning experience and I enjoyed every session of the
immersive simulation. According to studies, immersive simulation entails the
students being fully engaged with the coordinator and the simulated patients
(Allen, Bayer, Bland & Emlund, 2019). The scenario is performed by engaging in
an introductory process during each of the sessions. Our coordinator assured us
that the simulation scenarios were designed by a team of clinicians with expert
experience in resilience. The simulation scenarios are normally designed to cater
for all competencies dealing with resilience and students are given the chance to
experience the key pathologies in a single scenario of immersive simulation
(Wright et al., 2018). According to the coordinator, it was important that we
