How are the modern styles you studied this week descended from Impressionism?
Impressionism is considered to be the beginning of the contemporary art. It begun in the
19th century art movement whose speciality was small thin brush strokes and lay focus on the
open composition, depiction of the changing lights and many other features as well. Before this,
the Art was limited to the traditional aspect of the nature (Olson, 2018). The Impressionist made
use of bold colours on the two dimensional surfaces which is a form of modern art as well. After
this, a group of painters arrived enriched in the concept of modern art, who supported fauvism.
They emerged in the twentieth century who preferred the usage of the colors over the values of
the painting which were retained by the Impressionists.
How might these styles also be seen as reactions against Impressionism?
The modern art style makes use of the bold colours over the value or the realism in the
painting. The maintaining no longer needed the depiction of the emotions, but they were
enriched with colours. The impressionism demonstrates the ways in which the nature can be
represented in the realistic manner, however, the modern art completely demolished necessity of
using this process in the painting. The basic aim of the modern artist were to develop paintings
which will be extremely catchy for the eyes. They used more contrasting color to give the
