REFELECTIVE ESSAY
Organisational behaviour gives an insight on how individuals behave as well as
perform collectively to complete a given task. Organisational behaviour therefore helps every
individual within the group to understand the importance of motivation that helps in
increasing and enhancing the performance that further helps in developing a relationship of
trust within the group members (Leithy 2017). Organisational behaviour should not only be
limited to workplace as it is a very wide concept and can be used to refer any collective
performance from a team from whichever institution. In this essay I will therefore discuss
about an incident that I faced in my life and realised the issues faced during collective
working along with the importance of organisational behaviour.
I had applied in a reputed café for the role of a manager as I had previously worked in
the same post in a restaurant. Luckily I got job as the previous manager due to some issues
within the organisation had resigned from the post and therefore, I was hired on an immediate
basis. After visiting the café I realised that the employees working within the company were
all older to me and they too were uncomfortable after seeing me in the post of a manager. On
that very moment I realised that dealing with the employees of the café would not be easy as
firstly they were experienced than me and secondly they would be offended to follow the
rules as well as regulations set by me for the company. My primary task was to encourage the
employees to enhance their productivity as the company was running at a loss and ensure that
every individual worked collectively to bring back the reputation of the organisation.
However, during this collective task I faced a lot of problem such as employees productivity
were continuously decreasing, employees started resigning and they were resistant towards
me as well. I realised that the above problems were due to poor organisational behaviour
within my company and that it was my responsibility to mitigate the problems.
I realised that there was lack of motivation within the employees. According to the
organisational behaviour norms motivation is one of the essential factors within an
