Introduction
The number of Indian students going overseas to further
their education has been increasing for quite some time now. This
has been attributed to the determination and levels of commitment
among the youths in India (Barkan, Bintliff, Whisner, 2015).
However, there are some common types of challenges that have
been facing these students as they go overseas in the verge of
furthering their education.

 Some of the challenges are, online research challenges,
referencing and citation challenges and also the issue of
academic integrity.
 This presentation aims to look at these challenges that the Indian
students face as they go to further their education. It will also
cover the various techniques of academic writing and the
different types of assignments.

(a). Modern age online research
Conducting of an online research is very important and forms a very
crucial aspect of all scholars and academicians. It is considered as being an
integral part of any student because through a research then these scholars and
students are in a position to impact a social change (Merriam & Tisdell, 2015).

 For not Indian students furthering their education overseas, they
are faced by some very common challenges as far as conducting
a research is concerned. Some of these common challenges in
online research are outlined below;
 Choosing the right topic-Well, a research topic needs to be
carefully chosen. It is basically considered to be the foundation
and the basis of the whole research.

It is therefore crucial to choose a research topic. Indian students
studying abroad find this very challenging since they have to
develop a doable topic, read anything and everything in regard to
that particular topic, find some theoretical facts relating to the topic
of interest and also making sure that the chosen topic fully fits the
issue of interest to be studied (Laudon & Laudon, 2016).

research. There is only one way in which this particular problem can
be avoided, through reading lots and lots of articles, doing an extra
research on the subject matter and consulting various experts

Challenge in finding study participants-In every research study
there must be participants who would participate in the study, well
this is actually among one of the most challenging problem that the
Indian students face since a lot of money needs to be spend on the
participants to convince them to take part in the study and also
since they are Indians, convincing these participants is quite
challenging.

being rational, the students should be bold and freely interact with
people from various social backgrounds so as to be in a position to
find the participants they need.

Referencing and the use of citations is very important, it
helps the writer avoid plagiarism. The APA referencing style for
instance allows the writer acknowledge not only the ideas of others
but also their thoughts and words. Referencing is even more crucial
since it actually brings out the picture that the writer has indeed
read the relevant literature and he/she can account for that.

Proper citations on the other hand enable other readers to locate
the material used in that particular research. It is, however
challenging among the Indian students furthering their studies
overseas since the process of gathering all the appropriate and
required references is quite a hectic task. It requires a lot of

(dissemination) and destruction of relevant pieces of information
relating to a certain subject matter. Information management is
one of the greatest challenge that Indian students studying
overseas encounter in their day to day life.

amount of experience and skills, these are key things that most
Indian students studying abroad lack (Lim, 2016).
 This challenge can only be managed and avoided if and only if
the students master the art of information management.

storage and transfer of information in details so as to make a

Unlike other forms of writing, academic writing is very sensitive and
sometimes can be regarded as being delicate in nature (Donner,
2017).Academic writing is regarded to as sensitive and delicate in
nature because it requires that a specific style, structure and also
content is adhered to so as to make a certain piece of writing an
academic writing.

 An academic writing should follow a specific kind of
structure- there are always different specific structures that
needs to be followed depending on the type of assignment such
as an essay format, a lab report format among others.

 Academic tone-An academic tone needs to be evident in any

of the tone to be used is a step towards understanding the
audience (McLeskey, Rosenberg, Westling, 2017).

assignments that can be given in academic writing. There are
different types of assignments are some of the common types
are outlined below;
 Lab reports-These are mostly common used in science
psychology. They are purposefully used to describe and also to
analyze the results of a particular experiment. The meaning of
this description and analysis is basically to explore a certain
scientific concept.

provides a critical review on a certain designated topic. The topic
of interest is researched on and analyzed in details so as to
