WELFARE

 In comparison, the
indigenous children are
represented overtly in the
arena of child protection.
 The reasons for this is
linked with the past
policies (Hunt & Roberts,
2004).
 There are several factors
that led to the contribution
this over-representation.
Introduction

 The indigenous children were
stolen from their families
and put in foster care.
 Most of them suffered from
Child Abuse and Domestic
Violence (Aboriginal Child
Sexual Assault Taskforce,
2006).
 There are actions that have
been taken for protection of
the rights of these Aboriginal
Children.
Introduction

 Aboriginals have issues
of mistrust with the
welfare based agencies.
 These trust issues are
rooted in European
colonization.
 The policy of Child
removal also
contributed to this
mistrust.
