WELFARE

In comparison, the
indigenous children are
represented overtly in the
arena of child protection.
The reasons for this is
linked with the past
policies (Hunt & Roberts,
2004).
There are several factors
that led to the contribution
this over-representation.
Introduction

The indigenous children were
stolen from their families
and put in foster care.
Most of them suffered from
Child Abuse and Domestic
Violence (Aboriginal Child
Sexual Assault Taskforce,
2006).
There are actions that have
been taken for protection of
the rights of these Aboriginal
Children.
Introduction

Aboriginals have issues
of mistrust with the
welfare based agencies.
These trust issues are
rooted in European
colonization.
The policy of Child
removal also
contributed to this
mistrust.
