INTRODUCTION
Learning is considered as a procedure which allows individuals to learn something new and
acquire knowledge about something (Lake, Salakhutdinov and Tenenbaum, 2015). This process
enables the ability to understand and process concepts. This process is considered as most
important for students. The main aim of this individual essay is to build an understanding about
the concept of learning and strategies by which this process can be effectively done. In this
essay, different learning strategies are analysed along with development of a study plan which
will help in attainment of short and long term goals of a learner.
MAIN BODY
Discuss different learning strategies that allow individuals to learn best
Learning style is an approach which allows individual to gain or modify their knowledge
in a certain way. For every style, few strategies must be followed so that learner can learn best.
Strategies or techniques which allows learners to learn best are visualization, cooperative
learning, inquiry based learning, differentiation, technology and behaviour management
(Nielsen, 2016).
The first strategy which can help in power up the process of learning is visualisation.
This strategy is based on the concept of modifying dull academic topics into interesting visual
experience. The tools through which visual learning can be done is displaying pictures and
videos and using interactive white board. These tools will allow students to practically
experience and visualize what they were studying theoretically which ultimately trigger their
sense of visualisation and help in effectively understand the academic topic (Platow, Mavor and
Grace, 2013). Another strategy of effective learning is cooperative learning. In this technique,
students are encouraged to exchange their skills by working in a group which helps to learn from
other students and gain their USPs, skills and abilities. It has been said that teamwork is the
greatest teacher, things which cannot be learnt from experts can be learnt in a team. In this
strategy, learners express their ideas and acquire feedback from their team mates which provide
them scope to learn from their mistakes and learn from their team mates.
Inquiry based instruction learning is most effective strategy for gaining knowledge when
learner need to become an independent learner. In this strategy, students are encouraged to
investigate and inquire by asking questions so that their knowledge can be polished and a deeper

understanding about the concepts can be acquired. This learning is helpful in the cases where
understanding is need to be developed about the concepts of science and math. Another strategy
which is considered to be effective in the process of learning is differentiation. In this technique,
mentor allocate different task to various students according to their skills and abilities. This
learning process aims to polish individual’s personal and special skills. This strategy is based on
the belief that instead to educating everything to everyone, educate which is required by every
individual. This method is highly effective in specialising skills (Zhou, Wu and Li, 2018).
Technology is again an important strategy which helps in making the process of learning
effective. This strategy helps in educating learners with the means of digital tools such as mobile
phones, laptops, tablets etc. This strategy works by linking major senses which are visualising,
hearing and speaking with each other which ultimately result in effective learning. In this day
and age, learning through technology is most important as it helps in engaging students by
visualising new academic concepts. The last learning strategy which can help in effective
learning is behaviour management. In this process, an environment of learning is built by the
combination of mutual respect and discipline. This strategy even includes reward and
punishment so that learning can be done by considering the behaviour of an individual learner
(Strategies of effective Learning Skills, 2018).
All learning strategies discussed above allows learners to learn best and acquire new
knowledge as well as modify existing knowledge.
Developing a study plan that includes short term and long term goals
A study plan is a basic blueprint regarding strategies and actions which are required to be
undertaken in order to achieve long and short term goals of learning (Nisbet and Shucksmith,
2017). In order to develop a study plan, it is important to first develop relevant short term and
long term goals. Short term learning goal against which study plan will be developed is to learn
the skill of team building (Kizilcec, Pérez-Sanagustín and Maldonado, 2016). Long term goal for
this study plan is to develop the ability of deep learning. The below study plan is developed in
the format of SMART which enable to cover each and every aspect of the learning.
Short term learning goal: To learn the skill of team building
