INTRODUCTION
Organization learning and practices ideas process of gaining different knowledge in term of
business functioned for adaption of hanging environments and increase efficiency. the
organization as whole need to learn and adapt for long term success. In this approach, there is
main focus on organizational formation with specializations, standards and hierarchy of authority
dealing in different parameter of complexity, size, goals and strategy (Barraclough and Gleeson,
2017). British American Tobacco company (BAT) in multinational company established in
United Kingdom for manufacturing and selling out cigarettes, tobacco and other products related
to nicotine in around 180 countries. The application of organization learning and theory will
helpful for firm in boosting up potentiality and generating thrive in modern society.
Employee motivation is important concept which tends to revolve around various
determinant as initiation, enthusiasm, intensity, dedication, perseverance and productivity in the
workplace. The increased motivation in employee lead to commitment and efficient performance
enhancing revenue for company. Currently, BAT is facing several issues in employee retention
at workplace following major reason of dissatisfaction among employees. In this report, there
will be discussion on various aspect of BAT including management style, structure of
organization and current leadership style. Beside it, relevant model and theories will be discussed
following appropriate recommendation.
Section A
Evaluation of management style of BAT with principle and management function
Management style is the art of getting together with a common platform extracting out the
best way in effective organization management. It plays out the important role in strengthening
the bond among the employee and making them work together as a single unit. the firm have to
look into clear dependency on the manager regarding the approach to plan, organize, delegate the
respective staff members.
Theories of managements have the comparison in attitudes, behaviours and long-term business
outcomes from group with common behaviour characterise. There are different management stye
such as autocratic management, democratic management, participative management, and laissez
faire management style (Bisenovna, 2016). In BAT organisation, company is following
autocratic management style believing that employee is not the one who can be trusted for
important decision making of firm. Implementation of such management style, the BAT

workplace will not be considered as ideal place to poster up creative ideas and encouragement to
take responsibility and delegation of powers. This have created negligence in employee emotion
and make them demotivate to work out with relative ideas in fostering business revenue. in such
situation, employee is not encouraged with different type of queries, shutting up ideas or level of
different thought sharing process.
On the other hand, as per the principle of British American Tobacco have been committed
up to corporate transparency. the firm is recognized as responsible firm holding up all
engagement activities guided by internal standards. Firm is supporting the third parties on policy
issues of mutual interest. In addition, firm is considering three principles of business as Mutual
Benefit, Responsible Product Stewardship and Good Corporate Conduct, and eighteen Core
Beliefs. BAT have developed up business principles and core belief on basis on the continuous
audition CSR performance.
The firm is providing opportunities in area of marketing and supply will all business
devilment in significant manner. BAT is facing severe level of competition in way of driving
excellences in different department function. The functions of BAT are
Planning
Planning is considered to first stage to move forward on strategy in best way of business
activities. leader and manger play an important role in operating with proper responsibility to
promote business. BAT is possessing product which is risky to health.
Organizing
In process of organizing, firm have specific structure to maintain relationship between superior
and subordinate (Elsbach and Stigliani, 2018). All different level has leader and manager helping
out to implement strategy in BAT.
Leading
Leader have prime obligation to have strategy implication turning out to bridge between
top level management and employees. Leader are implementing situational leadership to cope
with different situation prevailing in business environment. Due to such leadership, employee is
frustrated and create environment of biasness.

Controlling helps out in taking up of corrective actions in the planned event. BAT have to
bring flexibility in controlling system along with establishing standard and target for
performance.

Organizational structure and culture of BAT
An organization tends to serve various function in business management in order to meet out
changing needs and communication to bring out efficiency in different firm segment. The
formation of organizational structure has the formation on BAT have identified various issue.
Currently company is having the hierarchal structure (Reynar, 2019). Employee are unable to
communicate with top level of management because of one of communication. This have created
negative environment at the workplace.

responsibility to others. BAT will create differ position as accordingly assigned work as per
capability. Through process of delegation BAT will be implement functional structure to get into
formal interaction with different personnel.
BAT have successfully implemented functional structure dividing the management in smaller
group such as on basis of different special function IT, finance or marketing. This
departmentalization allows greater operational efficiency because the employees have their skills

The corporate culture has the clear basis of value, belief an attitude charactering the firm
appropriate guiding practice. As per the Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions, a company culture has
been divided into categories with dimension such as Power Distance Index (high versus low),
Individualism Versus Collectivism, Masculinity Versus Femininity and Uncertainty Avoidance
Index (high versus low). due to being high centralize firm, there is major implementation of as
Power Distance Index (high versus low) creating a large gap in between employee issue and
authority judgement. This have led to delay in the compensation, authority and respect.

Due to functional structure, firm have reduced up with inter departments communication issues.
Company organization structure to get smooth flow of communication from one department to
another one Structure is been managed by experienced person having high ability and skill. The
company is trying to take various step to reduce high power index at workplace and create
healthy work environment in BAT (Bayer and et.al., 2020). This will be helping out in increase

Leadership style in BAT
Leadership is helpful in cultivating foundation of culture and encompassing power to
employees in achieving company mission. Leader of firm have responsibility to demonstrate
proper belief of the company along with rein enforcing behaviour which clearly reflect values.
In the organization BAT, CEO is using the situational leadership approach for influencing team
member to work at maximum optimization of teamwork. Situational leadership have major
belief in collaboration to get int creative collecting and turnout with valuable innovation for
performing differ kind of business.
The leader has need to follow up the same passion of motivation. Due to previous
organizational structure and higher power distance index. BAT have failed to analyse the
requirement of the employee at workplace. Due to lack of workplace stress management,
employee have reduced with motivation and learning of new innovative opportunities. CEO of
BAT have to work on intellectual simulation for legally comply with proper regulation and
maintain status quo. The leader has need to encourage employee to work with more innovative
way. the situational leadership have inclusion of the four leadership stye that’s s direct, coach,
support and delegates. These are termed to be adaptive as per employee range of departmental
behaviours. There is various reason for implication of situational leadership model in business
environment of BAT in way of ensuing business success.
Effectiveness of leadership on organization function
Situation leadership and functioned organization structure of business in creating positive
impact on different function. While at the planning function, situational leadership is creating
flexible approach fostering creative and innovative ideas at workplace. BAT CEO is looking to
recreate successful collaboration among team members (Chula-Jung, 2018). Moving to
organization function, situation leader is trying to encourage adaptability for upcoming future
condition and assess with maturity of people and providing the socio economical supports to
subordinated. Directing function is properly taken by CEO which clearly look into workplace
productivity and boost employee motivations and create awareness on current organizational

Every organization has different kind of workplace environment and ability to lead their
employee’s ad achieves their target. Power, conflicts and influence are the three term that affect
the company’s strategy and way of thinking. Mr jack is the CEO of British American company
and jack is having ability to use power, influence employees to achieve goals and influence to
work hard for the company (Bayer and et.al., 2020). It shows that the power, influence and
conflict have huge impact upon the company.
Power
Power is an ability of the person to affect the behaviour of the other within the
organization. Top management is the powerful level of a British American company where they
control all the business activities and provide way of doing task to the employees. Leaders and
managers are part of the top management, and they very straightforward toward their duty. They
focus to create equality and create trust among the employees, so they can be motivated and give
their best in the task. This directly affect to the companies' growth, and they can achieve their
business objectives. Every employee within the British American company have different
responsibilities and power within the company like superiors can give order to the employees
who are working under them, and they have to listen to the superiors. In a team of employees
also have leaders who report to the superiors and employee leader give direction to the other
employees.
Conflict
Conflicts situation within the workplace can create due to some factors like, employees
from different religion, gender etc. create problems and if employees are not agreeing with any
decision made by the leaders of British American company (Chula-Jung., 2018). This firm
handle conflicts situation every effectively, and they have created diverse culture at their
workplace so employees from the other realign, culture and gender can work together. Leaders of
British American company jack handle the conflict's situation within their workplace effectually.

the toots of the conflicts, so they can solve it effectively. If conflicts are between the two

employees for the leaders influence them to give their best in the task to make company
successful in their business.

British American company use Maslow motivation theory to motivate their employees. Maslow
has explained three needs of a human that can motivate employees to give their best within the

Physiological Needs
Physiological needs of the employees are food, drink, shelter and sleep etc. British
American company provide all this to their employees and specially for the employees who came
from the other country and state. They provide them shelter where they can live, food and
everything is included. Employees who just came for the work also get all the faculties like
drink, breaks, Coffee etc. this helps to motivate them and satisfy their needs.
Safety needs
Employees can be fear of working within the workplace where they are not getting satisfy
so British American company provide employees life insurance because They are working in a
dangerous condition so employees get life insurance. Not only this but British American
company follow all the shifty tools and provide quick medical faculties to their employees.
Love and Belongingness
It is the need of every human being to create relationship with other, and they also have
personal life, love etc. British American company look at these issues and provide leaves and
holidays to their employees, so they can spend some times with their family members and enjoy

people always want them to get respect in the company where they are working and
leaders of British American company know this very well (Shane and Deckhouse., 2019). They
treat equally to each and every employee and give respect to the employee, so they can be
motivated and give their best in the task. Getting respect from the senior make employees more
loyal, and they give respect to the leaders as well and always give their support in the decision-
making.
Self-Actualization
Self-actualization can be defined as the desire of become something in life. To fulfil this
demand British American company, provide promotions to their employees PS they can take
higher position within the company in the future.

employee to succeed in workplace with innovating fostering of ideas. In addition, the company
are looking up on the different way to promote intrinsic and extrinsic motivation a workplace as
per the requirement neds by company.
As per the view of (Shane and Deckhouse (2019), there are several company moving in different
sector providing in value motivation to employee to succeeding upcoming uncertainty aligning
professional and personal goal an objective. For example, Deloitte have believed up in making
employee environment combatable and make them stay motivates. The company is trying to
periodic survey to analysis different issue faced by employee at workplace. Company is properly
implementing open door policy among employee to increase communication a find out solution
into various issues.
On the other hand, I’m, Cho and Kim, (2019) contracted with example of Google, as company
who perfectly knows how to keep its employee to motivate and calm. Google is looking to have
establishment of various strategies such as reimbursement for legal expenses, maternity benefits,
free services such as hair stylist, bike repair, gym, healthcare, and many more.

motivation techniques, firm is paying major level of emphasis on learning and development of
employees. M&S providing learning incentives to employee for enhancing continuous learning a
knowledge increase.
Hence, it is important for BAT to pay major focus on the both intrinsic and extra
motivation. the perks of M&S and google will be best idea providing maximum possibilities to
satisfies employees who are actually need to satisfaction and bring out creative ideas.

Manager have need to look into the perfect work environments and cultures support in
employee efforts towards fostering employee motivation Manger should make several
strategies to growth up opportunities for knowledge and skills.
Firm should try to look into the leadership with sharing of company vision and mission.

Manager should set the regular goals and day to day roles for the employee. This will be
helpful in creating the effective standard and make them engages while performing the
job.
Employee little positive efforts and milestone is needed to be celebrated by manager to
provide social and economic supports. This will lead to have social and cultural
emotional upliftment’s.
Manager should try to look into new perspective of employee working in team over
different project (Rispens, Jehn and Steinel, (2020). There can be inclusion of different
perks such as, child care and services. employee benefit and perks are almost looking all
compensation packages.
Proper feedback is needed by manger
BAT should look into development of proper feedback systems.
Rewarding employees with proper learning & development in different business
development activities to higher level.
Make employee to get into more trust organization process.
There is need to increase reliability of relationship of employee and organization process
which make the best possible point to way in the confidence in daily working procedure

management style used by the CEO Jack Marie and function of management style. It has been
analysed steps taken by the CEO to improve organizational structure at the British American
company and achieve higher performance and success within the business. This report has been
explained leadership style of CEO and analysed how they make organization more effective. It
has been discussing that how power, influence and conflicts are handling by the British
American company. It has been also providing motivation strategies used by the British
American company such as Maslow theory that is used by the company. This report has provided
