INTRODUCTION
Communication plays a vital role in order to convey proper handling and
management of various operations that are taken in consideration by a firm
(Barak, 2016). The management has to look after the proper interaction to
carry out the business activities. This presentation will lays emphasis on
various barriers and challenges with proper strategies to overcome them.

LO2 Common barriers and challenges to
communication
Some major barriers and challenges that are faced while carrying out the communication process at are:
• Psychological problems: This is caused by lack of proper concentration, memory loss or absence of proper
attention. If the communicator is angry or emotional, he/she will not be able to convey the message properly.
On the other hand, if he/she is happy and active, the message will be clear and easy to understand.
• Language barrier: As per the case study of restaurant, staff is from various countries and English is not their
first language. Thus, in this situation, formulating a proper communication channel is very difficult.
• Physical barrier: The physical difference in the work process, timing of shifts and lack of proper feedback is
the major physical factor that will influence the business operations to a greater extent.
• Interpersonal barrier: The difference among the staff members and reluctance to communicate will be the
major barrier to communication process that will impact the performance of restaurant (Betancourt and et.al.,
2016).
