INTRODUCTIONWaste management refers to the process of performing some actions in order to managewaste from their inception to the final disposal. It generally consists of collection, treatment,transport and waste disposal along with regulating and monitoring the waste managementprocess(Anguelov, 2015). This research is conduct over fashion industry with an aim todetermine the intersection between waste and fashion as well as measure that are taken by thissector toward waste management issue. Current research includes a detail description aboutcreative practice in term of historical and contemporary context along with the work of art anddesign as well as their influence over social issues. It also discuss about an area of art or designpractice for research and importance of research ethics. It also explore about different forms ofresearch and finding from this topic.TASK 11.1 Examine creative practice through research into historical and contemporary contextsIn this disposable culture, cheap production and fast-changing trend which influencepeople to opt for new and trendy clothes as well as accessories that leads people to throw awaythings without a second thought. These waste materials results in waste crisis in which plasticclog the oceans, landfill sites get expanded. There are number of techniques which is generallyused by people from ancient time to manage wastage(Zaman, 2015). In ancient time peoplegenerally use landfills techniques in order to dispose the solid waste, resell the materialisticproducts and apart from this they use to burn out all the waste material which was then damp intoland. But now in contemporary time fashion industry started using eco friendly products that areeasier to recycle. Apart from this most of the brand started adopting an exchange options wherepeople supply their old clothes and take off the new ones where used clothes get recycled anduse to form designer clothes. On of the most commonly used material for recycling by majorityof fashion industry players is wool.Wool is a one of the most widely used textile fibre which is generally obtained fromsheep and other animals like mohair, goats, rabbits, bison etc. It was first introduced by Europeand first woven wool garment was made between 400 to 300 BC (History of Wool Making,2019). This was first adopted by harmony community in Germany which was a Christiantheosophy and pietist society. In earlier time wool was plucked from sheep either by using hand1
or bronze combs. In Roman times, the wool was started bringing from Tarentum that was acoastal city of Southern Italy(Kim and Hall, 2015). Later wool was started using by severalother community in order to deal with winters as it was generally used to create sweaters,mufflers, tunic, toga and other sort of clothes.(Source:AncientRomeClothingandFashion, 2019)Above given image depict about the cloths that were used in ancient time that were madeup of wool.
