INTRODUCTION
Business organizations define how businesses are structured and the general practices
which helps in the growth of the company as whole (Fjeldstad and Snow, 2018). IOM
Electronics Ltd is a UK based company which deals in the electronic products and goods to
enable the customers use its service. It is regional organization which deals with 200 employees.
The report will cover functional areas of the business organization and the types of skills needed
by the employees of the organization.
MAIN BODY
1. Functional areas in business organizations
Business organization is an entity which carries out the functions of business in an
effective and efficient way by performing various tasks and projects in the areas such as
operations, finance, management, marketing accounting and finance along with keeping the
aspect of business growth in formation of success performed in reference to IOM Electronics
Ltd. Company (Bui, 2019).The functional areas of the company consist of -
Management – Management is that functional area in which the managers perform their duties
and responsibilities for the achievement of goals and tasks along with taking care of the work
procedures of the company which include not only the functional operations but also the internal
people management process (Kittlaus and Fricker, 2017). The managers start this process from
the planning of the project or task in which the goal has to be accomplished by setting long –
term and short – term strategies which helps in making decisions quicker and deciding when and
what is to be done in execution. Managers of the company organize the operations to enable the
resources used effectively and efficiently along with controlling the ineffective measures which
affects the growth of the company and corrective actions are taken place in the process. The
management of the company provides leaders so that they serve their best skills and lead the
employees in the development of new product.
Operations – Operations of the company is determined by the inputs that are converted into
outputs (Fatehi and Choi, 2019). Operations play an important role in the company as it looks
after the process and the procedure which it follows in composing a product which describes its
quality and quantity with the services and goods that are produced during the process. This
function also expresses the concern towards all the departments that are working in the company

ordering the raw material to appoint workers to produce goods.
Marketing – The company identifies market structure through customers need and demand and
analyses the company's goals to meet those need and demand. Marketing function includes
promoting goods and services, the delivery of those goods is determined and development of the
pricing strategies of the goods and products to capture market share is analysed. In marketing of
the products or goods, social media is one of the effective measures which increases the sales
and publicize the product formed. For e.g. – the company's website, blogs, social media
campaign that boosts and generates the awareness that the company deals in a specified product
line.
Accounting – Allocation of the company's resources is done through accounting. All the
financial transactions are responsible in the internal and external accounting process of the
company which involves the government agencies, investors of the other company in
collaboration and comparison to IOM Electronics Ltd. Financial strength of the company is
accessed through the internal and external analysis by making financial statements of the
company. Information regarding costs, budgets etc. are available through the decision-making
process of the company which is taken by the managerial staff.
Finance – Finance is that function of the company which is related to accounting and involves
the planning for obtaining and managing company's funds. Finance managers of the company
analyse the long – term and short – term strategies which help in the analysis of company's
financial deposits and borrowings and determining the actual position of the company in the
market structure. This function also proves to be an important factor in the company as the
finance department holds the market position including the financial assets and liabilities the
company acquires.
2. Types of skills needed by employees to be able to work effectively in these functional areas
There are various types of skills that are needed by employees of the IOM Electronics
Ltd. which are as follows -
Leadership skills – Employees of the company must have good leadership skills which helps
them to initiate in their work ethics and also encourage other employees of the company to work
