INTRODUCTION
Individual research portfolio is the collection of data which is being researched to present
the individual record of their contribution to understand the subject (Klavans and Boyack, 2017).
The research portfolio is the record which show the research which is being made by an
individual with its experiences. This report will evaluate the contemporary issues faced by line
manager while managing the people in an organization. In this the knowledge, skills and
behaviour which are needed to manage the people are determined and further HR process are
explained to maintain the performance management.
MAIN BODY
Contemporary issues for manager during people management
There are number of issues faced by manager when they are managing people as every
individual have different way to understand the things (Tambe, Cappelli and Yakubovich, 2019).
The manager have to deal with different type of people as issues in this are:
Decreased performance level: the employees are being not getting proper guidance to perform
their duties then they are less effective. In the pandemic situation of COVID-19 people are not
able to perform better, and they need guidance as well to perform the task. So they are facing less
productive and when the people are not productive then they also influence other in the
organization. The managers are not able to provide adequate amount of training to the people to
access their duties. Yet the performance level reduces with this practise of manager.
Time management: When the manager is managing the employees of the organization then they
have to look over their activities. Yet in the COVID-19 situation employees are working from
home so the manager is facing difficulty in managing the time of the employees (Ewing, Men
and O’Neil, 2019). The manager is struggling to coordinate with each of the employee and trying
to manage the time. For example Tesco is a huge retailer organization in the pandemic period the
retailer are being open so the managers have lots of difficulty while coordinating with all the
employees of the organisation and manage the work within the team.
Lack of communication: the communication is being major challenge for the manager as
employees are having different type of personality so may lead to less effective communication
between them. People are not able get the required information within the time and ultimately
their work is also not completed on time.
