LITERATURE REVIEW
To understand the meaning of manufacturing engineer and their role in Unilever
According to view point of Han, (2017) Manufacturing engineer can be defined as a
person within the organisation which is operating from the branch of organisations such as
mechanical chemical electric and industrial engineering. It is the person who used to perform
the functions within the organisation related to development of tool process machinery and
equipment. The major task is to provide appropriate system in order to producing quality
products with optimum expenditure of capital.
According to the viewpoint of Black, and Kohser, (2020) There are different rules of
manufacturing engineer within the organisation for staff manufacturing engineer usually
work inside the factory of the other production sites. Manufacturing engineer also help in
developing and if appropriate system process and machine which result in high quality
product. In context of Unilever there are different jobs which are performed by the
manufacturing engineer within the organisation. The primary job manufacturing engineer is
to evaluate the manufacturing process in order to ascertain better quality of the products and
services while production. It is also evaluated that one more function which is played by
manufacturing engineer is related to testing in new and existing production procedures to
meet the requirement of product quality as well as performing organisational working in

To identify the challenges faced by manufacturing engineers in Unilever regarding this Covid
situation.
According to the viewpoint of Paul and Chowdhury, (2020) There are different
challenges which are faced by the manufacturing engineers within this covid-19 pandemic.
These challenges are directly associated with the manufacturing industry and also faced by
the Unilever while working. According to the author, these are some challenges which have
their direct impact on the productivity as well as profitability of organisation.
As per the view point of Ivanov, and Dolgui, (2020) The major challenges faced by
the organisation are related to improper supply chain. Covid-19 adversely impacted on the
supply chain network of organisation where manufacturing engineer face number of
difficulties. These are related to improper management of inventory as well as increasing in
the cost of distribution. Here, manufacturing engineer has to design some and innovative
approaches in order to improve the supply chain network.
As per the analysis of Czifra, and Molnár, (2020) It is viewed that one of the major
problem which is faced by the manufacturing engineer is related to meeting the demand of
essential products. It is identified that Unilever is also dealing with the essential products in
the covid-19 period. Under this there is a high demand of these essential products which has
to be managed by the manufacturing engineers. Hear the role of manufacturing engineer is to
manage automated machineries as well as non-automated systems in an appropriate way so
that the demand can be meet by the organisation at global level. This acted as a major
challenge in front of manufacturing engineers working within Unilever.
According to the viewpoint of Agrawal, Jamwal and Gupta, (2020) One of the major
issues faced by the manufacturing engineer within the Unilever is related to non-availability
of raw material and essential ingredients in order to strengthen the process and functioning of
manufacturing within organisation. Due to mass scale of lockdown and non-availability of
transport, manufacturing engineers of Unilever has to face difficulty in performing the
process of manufacturing within the organisation as well as managing an appropriate
systematic approach to produce the products and services.
To identify the strategies available for managing the challenges faced by manufacturing
engineers in the Covid situation.
Along with different challenges there are also some strategies which are adopted by
the manufacturing engineers in order to resolve the issues and implementing appropriate
functions to survive within the covid situation.
In findings of Paul and Chowdhury, (2020)Most appropriate strategy which is
followed by manufacturing engineer within Unilever is related to using the limited resources
as well as producing an appropriate plan to only produce the required goods for staff at the
time of covid, manufacturing engineer come up with a appropriate program of producing only
essential goods and services which require limited resources as well as also held in managing
the supply chain in effective way. Using the local resources is helpful to the organisation in
fulfilling the demand without spreading the threat of covid-19. This also helps in providing
situation.

which aids in obtaining positive results from the data.
Research Methods: The primary and secondary data collection methods are the most
popular. It is essential to comprehend the study title in order to obtain reliable results. The
first is primary research, in which the data is fresh and obtained by the researcher. This
approach needs more time (Burgelman, 2020). The data were collected by the researcher
himself. Experiments, questionnaires, interviews, case studies, and other forms of primary
data are examples of primary data. The second approach is to use data and knowledge that
has already been written. There has been previous research in the same area. It is a cost-
effective data collection tool since it saves both time and money.
This study employs both primary and secondary analysis methods. In terms of the
primary process, information is gathered through a questionnaire distributed to Amazon
employees. Secondary data is gathered through a literature review and citations from
previously published articles, journals, newspapers, and magazines.
Participants include: Since data from the whole population cannot be collected, a
sample size must be determined. The sample size for this study will be 50 Amazon
employees who will be chosen by random sampling. Since simple random sampling has a
lower risk of bias and discrimination.
Validity and reliability: The research's validity is determined by the data collection
source. It is important to remember that the study is conducted using a questionnaire, which
means that the data is obtained directly from the employees. It aids in the collection of data
from credible sources, resulting in a true and reliable study outcome. Along with that,
authentic data from papers and journals is used, demonstrating the data's reliability.
Data analysis: Data processing is the method of analysing the information gathered.
Quantitative and qualitative data are the two types of data. The data obtained in this study is
mathematical, and it will be analysed using graphs and pie charts. The method of analysing
