My company is known as Abdul Rahman AL-Otaishan & Sons Group (ARO). It is located in the kingdom of Saudi Arabia with 15 branches and
2,500 employees. I am working on Jubail City at the Ibn Zahr plant.
ARO Group is a very big company construction company in both Industrial and Transportation services. The company is involved in different
businesses and in service areas like Insulation, painting, coating, refractory, concrete repair, asphalting and many others. And working for big a
company such as SABIC and ARAMCO Plants handling big projects in asphalt as the company has its product and equipment for asphalting also
very high skill and experience employees. More than that, working in a maintenance job with more than 30 plants such as concrete repair and
leaking of water, etc. Therefore, it is involved in both shutdown and Turn around for several sectors one of them is Insulation and specialized on the
mechanical system insulation in different applications such as Boilers, process piping, and fittings, storage Tank and Vessels. Workers have been
divided into two shifts first one is the day shift from 6 am to 6 pm and another one is night shift from 6 pm to 6 am as the company provides 24 hour
services for their clients.

The risk assessment area that I am looking to cover is about Concrete and Masonry work.

I have involved in various concrete and masonry work so I decided to cover this area and I have been looking in Osha website as professional
standard for both of them. Osha is one of the trusted website in the world and it very reach in term of information on Health and safety and it give
step by step process to make sure that you have safely work and here is the link for it https://www.osha.gov/Publications/3106.html it is very good
guide website to follow. I identified the hazards that could cause harm through assessing health and safety risks that workers were faced with.
These includes mental risks, physical risks, chemical risks and biological risks. I also identify who was at the risks of being harmed. For instance,
visitors, employers, operators of machineries and clients. The members of the public were identified too. Repetitive tasks in slips, lift loads were
places that were assessed in depth. I considered how each risks were likely to cause damage or injury to different individuals. It assisted me to
determine how I could reduce the risk level. I then decided on the measures to undertake to prevent such risk from cause damage and injuries to
employees, supervisors and workshop operates.
Therefore, I have asked several experience staff that they have been worked on this area and they discover many things to be used while doing any
kind of work on concrete job which they were not using it or even wear it such as leather gloves to protect their hands. I have discovered many
incidents happen during of these kind of job and it happen more than one time which mean this need to be consider.

Part 3: Prioritise three actions and justification for the selection
You must pick the three highest priority/most urgent actions and justify your choice. Your justification must include moral, legal and
financial arguments (500 to 700 words); consideration of likelihood and probable severity of injury, ill-health and/or harm (150 to 250
words); description of how effective each action is likely to be in controlling the risk (250 to 350 words).
I will choose the following three actions:
1. Prepare a risk assessment list and implement it for the working on the height equipment inspection process.
2. All workers are given protective gears such as helmets that should be mandatory worn by all of them
3. Require time to time inspection for the circuit, equipment, and overall, all instruments with electric circuit installation.
Moral
The company has always considered a moral duty of care to be provided for workers. The employees join an organization in the hope of
working opportunity; however, work safety, safety equipment, and experienced as well as qualified workers are first priority. The electricity
failures could have burns or even death if it is not considered for workers' safety. In addition, working on huge heights could produce fatal
injuries if not have good support. The load handling equipment, if failed, could produce brain injuries for workers, as well as site visitors.
Hence, moral duty includes safety for a place of work, equipment, training, and instruction.
Financial
Whenever an employee is injured, the following impacts will be faced for losses:
 Direct Cost: It is a measurable cost that is caused due to the time of the incident that occurred.
 Indirect Cost: It is a cost that will be caused indirectly due to a risk consequence, including medical cost and replacement worker
wages, as well as employee liability support.
Legal
For legal considerations, safety and health laws should be considered and implemented by the company so that protection to the workers is

offered for safety at workshops and sites. If no actions are taken for legal prospects, the lack of measures will cost someone's life.
According to ILO conventions, some important legislations must be considered by the company. As per convention C152 - Occupational
Safety and Health (Dock Work) Convention, the health of employees should be effective measures so that precaution could save their lives
from injuries conducted through work heights, electricity failure, and other hazards. Hence, precautions will include proper training that will
be allocated as well as gears to protect the head is also allocated to each process. As per this convention, to implement safety measures, it is
necessary to use inspection methods for all equipment with proper testing and taking actions if it was not working properly by taking control
actions.
Likelihood and Severity:
The likelihood of working heights could result in several injuries if workers fall. It also includes sprain, bruises, injuries from the head, legs, as
well as hands, which could affect the working condition. Furthermore, the electricity failure could result in shock, burns, and circuit failures
resulting in issues for site workers as well as managers. The lack of gears will increase the possibility of head injury or brain hemorrhage.
Controlling the Risk
 The workers on special height should have proper support for lack of falling. Furthermore, the risk assessment list will provide an
inspection process to check before conducting the height process. In addition, monitoring and control for higher weight equipment will
offer a possible hazard to the lives of workers.
 With so many machineries available equipment could also fall on the head and create brain injuries. Therefore, usage of protective gear
should be considered as a mandatory rule.
The electricity failure could possibly hurt workers by creating shocks or equipment failure. Therefore, changes in equipment circuity could
prevent the electric short circuit possibility.

Part 4: Review, communicate and check
You must now give a review date for your risk assessment and say why you have chosen this date (10 to 50 words).
Our company’s policy for risk assessment is scheduled for every six months in which overall review is undertaken. Hence, I have decided the
review data will be 14 September 2020.
You must now indicate how the risk assessment findings will be communicated (including who needs to know the information) (100 to 150
words).
The email will be sent to the Workshop manager as well as a store manager on the risk assessment methods and their review inspection
process. Next, once the approval is seeking, then I will forward the email to the financial director for a personal meeting in context with risk
assessment actions. Complete detail for risk assessment methods and their control actions will be discussed with the workers over email as
well as workshops conducted to explain them mitigation actions with live demonstrations. In addition, I will also share the manuals designed
related to risk assessment so that workers could read and learn if they missed something at workshops.
You must now indicate how you will follow-up on the risk assessment to check that the actions have been carried out (100 to 150 words).
I will keep a reminder application in which each action and their update will be kept for one month. The follow-ups from each department and
responsible authority will be discussed effectively. If one of the actions is not fulfilled, then I will identify the barriers such as financial issues
that cannot support the process. Hence, a meeting with the financial director for more additional resources will be asked. The inspection
committee with three members will also be set up to check and track the progress of specific action. Once the approval is given next action will
be measured effectively. Whereas, communication through email, message, as well as face to face meetings, will be placed with responsible
authority respectively.
