Introduction:
According to the recent consensus around the world education and equal right to attaining it is
considered to be one of the basic human rights. Education and its importance of it in human life cannot be
emphasized more; right educational background dose not only provides a secure future with financial
stability, but it contributes largely to the personal growth of the humans as well. However, a vast majority
of deserving youth of the world remain left out of the opportunity to avail quality educational
opportunities belonging to underdeveloped countries. As a result the aspiring students often attempt to
immigrate to nations with better educational opportunities and benefits.
Among all the countries that experience maximum influx of international students, New Zealand
can be considered as one of the prime choices for the students who fly overseas in hopes of better
educational opportunities. However, often these international students face a number o challenges that
complicate their ed8ucational experience and chances of making the most of the opportunities. These
challenges include student visa, accommodation, expensive educational charges, and financial instability
(Cheung et al., 2011). Although, there are many universities that attempt to help the international students
with all the possible benefits and opportunities to ease their experience in their country and EIT can be
considered one such option. Although, the biggest challenge for the international students to utilize these
benefits is the fact that these benefits or schemes are never optimally promoted so that it can reach the
needy international students. This paper will attempt to incorporate a project proposal for promoting the
EIT international university to the Nigerian students, the international student population that faces the
most of the challenges while studying overseas (Madichie, 2013).

International student market of Nigeria:
The main goal of the international students who seek higher education in foreign countries is to
avail better or career oriented educational opportunities that are not available in the native country. These
students are generally the best and the brightest of their country of origin and the scanty educational
opportunities force them to migrate to different countries, where they have to struggle with a best

majority of challenges and discrimination and still attempt to acculturate just to get a fair chance at a good
educational background that will provide a financially stable career in the future. Considering the
international market of students, recent statistics reveal Asian and African students contribute the highest
to the global figure for international students. Considering the statistics of Africa, a vast majority of
meritorious students are propelled to study abroad due to the socio-economic and political determinants
prevalent in the educational market. The choice of country under focus in the paper is Nigeria, which is
considered to be the country that sends the second highest number of students abroad.
According to Cheung et al., 2011, one of the most prominent developmental, challenges that
Nigeria is facing is the insufficient educational capacity of the country and the lacking infrastructure of
the country which restricts the students from getting the educational opportunities that they deserve.
According to the data collected from UIS division of UNESCO, the total number of Nigerian students that
are studying abroad in 2010 is nearly 1 million and the numbers have only continued to rise in the last
few years. The excessive hike in the number of students belonging to Nigeria has risen for the fact that
there are approximately 50000 scholarships that are offered to the Nigerian students who wish to study
abroad, and hence the students avail the opportunity on a massive rate attracted by the benefits.
Considering the recent statistics, the number of Nigerian students flying overseas for educational
purposes has increased 71% in the past decade, and according to the government data close to 95% of the
students belonging to Nigeria that migrate to other countries for a degree to abroad take full responsibility
of funding their own educational expenses. Now the majority of the universities of Australia offer
attractive discount packages and schemes for the overseas students, hence the students are more attracted
to these countries for the benefits that they offer (Chu, 2011).
Challenges faced by the Nigerian students:
One of the greatest challenges that are faced by international immigrant students in two countries
like Australia or New Zealand is the process of acculturation where the students have to bridge the

massive gap left behind between the cultural differences of different continents. According to the most of
the Madichie, 2013 socio-cultural adjustment can be considered as the most relevant challenge that the
international students face when they migrate to a different continent for educational purposes. Along
with culture language period can also become a great challenge for the students to overcome when it
comes to adjusting in a different kind continent all together for obtaining an educational degree. The
Nigerian students do not have English as their first language and hence the struggle to accustome
themselves with language patterns and educational culture of that continent. Another constable challenge
that is faced by then I didn't students in different continents is the difference in educational system in
different continents. For instance taking New Zealand for example the educational system in New
Zealand or any other first World Country difference drastically from Africa and its characteristic
educational system. The distinctiveness of autonomous learning in these countries employee skills like
critical thinking problem solving abilities and interpersonal communication which can be a little
confusing for the of international students to get accustomed to (Chu, 2011).
Another very considerable challenge the international students overall face when they migrate to a
different country or continent person education is the complicated student visa pattern of different
countries.
There are different variations of student visa structures that are available for international
students and in most times the international students are extremely confused with what we have to apply
for and how it will benefit then in the future. For example the short-term student visa only provides them
6 months timeframe where the tier 4 student visa which allows international students to continue full time
studies in a foreign country. However there are various challenges and meticulous procedures that are
involved before the student get access to a tier 4 visa, hands more students I have to migrate to different
continents with short term student visa which proves to be a great concern for them in the future. Another
constable challenge for international students is the issues associated with accommodation, when most
universities provide expensive residential benefits for international students the process to offer juice
benefits our time consuming and meticulous as well. In most cases the student do not even know
