The world at large is experiencing the covid-19 pandemic. The South African government have come up
with a phase approach strategy to improve on the economy while taking care of our lives from the Covid-19
disease. We have moved to level3; therefore, schools will gradually be opened and only a phased
approached will be used. Regulations outlined by Government on the return to school are to be utilised.
The main purpose of the report is to dive deep into the level 3 phase regulation approach that the
government have proposed for schools and model an approach that implements the guidelines set out to
ensure health and safety measures of the learners, teachers and officials who will be returning to school.
The use of ArchiMate tool will be adopted to model the business, application and technical process and

1.Introduction and Project background
The deadly disease Coronavirus has brought a major impact in our lives worldwide. The whole
continent came into a stand still due to Covid-19. It is a virus which has the same symptoms as flu
and can be transmitted at a close range or touching same surfaces that a covid-19 infected person
has touched. An individual can prevent themselves from the spread of coronavirus by washing
their hands frequently and avoid touching their face as the virus particles leave on your hands and
maintain social distancing at all costs.
South Africa is one of the countries that the government had decided to take a stand and introduce
a country shutdown. All the business services rendered by private and public excluding those that
are deemed essential were officially shutdown. As the pandemic graph predictions declines, the
government introduced a phased or one can say level approach in dealing with the Covid-19
pandemic and for the sake of our economy at large. We have moved into level 3, therefore a lot of
services are operating and most importantly schools will be opening. Even though education is
vital, during level 5 and 4 of the lockdowns, schools were drastically affected and had to be
shutdown. it is only now during level 3 that a phased approach of learners returning to schools is
taking place, however ensuring the readiness in terms of hygiene, social distancing, and screening
of learners in schools for this deadly disease is very crucial and only grade 7 and 12 will be
returning to school. The Minister of Basic Education had mentioned that the health and safety of
leaners in South Africa comes first.
The government and together with Minister of Basic Education have introduced regulations and
guidelines that follows precautionary majors in protecting the learners, teachers, officials etc in
fighting the pandemic during the return to school process. The Minister of Basic Education has
outlined the processes and procedures that needs to be followed for the health and safety of the
learners and people at large. Public and Private schools are obliged to follow the processes set by
government to comply with the rules and regulations compiled.
This report will place a focus on modelling the level3 return to school health and safety regulations
for the Tshwane Christian school grade 7 and 12, and making sure that the guidelines are followed
properly to avoid a high number of infections in schools. The school selected to focus our
modelling on is based in Gauteng Province and offers grade R to 12 Education. The report will be
structured in three different layers mainly business layer, application layer and technology layer.
The layers will be in detailed, explaining the processes in sequential form.
