Influence of Cosmetic Surgery on Young Adults: Effects and Reasons

This study analyzes the influence of cosmetic surgery on young adults, the effects of surgery on individuals, and the reasons for undergoing cosmetic surgery. It also provides recommendations for safe cosmetic surgery. The research methodology includes a literature review and data analysis. The study concludes that cosmetic surgery enhances appearance and boosts confidence, but also carries risks such as scarring and infection.

LITERATURE REVIEW
To analyse the influence of cosmetic surgery on the young adults.
Ashikali, Dittmar and Ayers, (2017) sought to determine the fact that, cosmetic surgery is
considered to be as unique discipline of medicine which mainly focuses on enhancing the
appearance of the customers. This can be done with the help of medical or surgical techniques.
Young adults tends to get influenced by the celebrity who tends to undergo several cosmetic
surgery like facial contouring like cheek enhancement, rhinoplasty, etc., facial rejuvenation like
face lift, eyelid lift, brow lift, neck lift, body contouring like tummy tuck, etc. Chambers, (2019)
evaluated that, young adults are largely influenced by the cosmetic surgery because it will help
individual in enhancing their appearance which helps in boosting up the self- esteem and
confidence.

Ghotbi, and Khalili, (2017) sought to determine the fact that, cosmetic surgery is intended
to perform in order to reshape the structure of the body. This in turn helps in improving the
appearance of an individual. But on the contrary, there are several risks associated with the
cosmetic surgery which might include excessive bleeding, hair loss, infection, scarring, failure to
heal. This might result in serious complication and may negative affect the individual.
Martindale, (2016) evaluated that, scarring is considered to be one of the greatest risk associated
with the cosmetic surgery. It also carries high risk of infection and allergic reaction which
negative effects the outcome of individual. Haematoma is also one of the major risk which tends

to collect blood outside blood vessel. This results in swallowing and bruises. Organ damage is
considered to be one of the serious issue of cosmetic surgery on individual.
To evaluate the reasons of undergoing cosmetic surgery by individual.
Ashikali, Dittmar and Ayers, S., (2016) sought to determine the fact that, undergoing
cosmetic surgery helps in improving personal appearance of an individual which in turn helps in
boosting up their confidence. The key reason behind undergoing cosmetic surgery is because
individual in dissatisfied by their own physical appearance. People abusing individual is
considered to be the major reason for undergoing surgery. On the contrary, Wen, (2017) argued
that, major influence of celebrity through social media platforms is considered one of the major
reason for undergoing cosmetic surgery by individual. Ashikali, Dittmar and Ayers, (2017)
sought to determine the fact that, individual tends to undergo cosmetic surgery because of
reconstruction of body or facial tissue. This in turn helps in improving the appearance of an
individual. Physical pain, blood loss is also considered one of the major reason for undergoing
cosmetic surgery by young adults.

METHOD
Research methods: This is considered to be an effective method which helps in gaining
wider knowledge on the subject matter. Qualitative approach will be used to gain better
information.
Data collection: This helps in gaining new information by collecting data from primary
sources like questionnaire.
Sampling: Random probabilistic sampling will be used for selecting 10 cosmetic
surgeons in UK.
Data analysis: Information collected will be interpreted and analyses in order to attain
specific conclusion.

40% has sought to analyse the fact that, allergic reactions and infection is considered to be the
major side effects of cosmetic surgery on individual. Infection and allergic reaction can be
reduced by proper wound care, proper sanitization and frequent hand washing. 30% said that,
major risk associated with cosmetic surgery is scarring. Scarring can be reduced by not smoking
and having healthy eating habit after cosmetic surgery.

60% (20%+40%) has sought to analyse the fact that, celebrity promoting cosmetic surgery on the
social media helps in enhancing the individual appearance. This in turn largely influence young
adults to undergo cosmetic surgery. Remaining, 20% were neutral and did not give any clear
judgement on this theme.
Theme 5: Effective recommendations for safe cosmetic surgery of individual.
Interpretation: From the above conducted research from 10 cosmetic surgeons of UK,
maximum surgeons has sought to analyse the fact that, all the surgeons who is carrying out
cosmetic surgery must be highly professional and experienced (Walker, and et.al., 2019). They
should convey about the risk and complication associated with the surgery to the individual. The
board should be certified and they must use highly specialized technology to carry out surgery.
CONCLUSION
From the above conducted study it has been concluded that, cosmetic surgery mainly
focuses on enhancing the appearance of the customers. It helps in reshaping the structure of the
body which in turn helps in boosting up individual confidence. It has been summarized that, one
of the common side effects of cosmetic surgery on individual is allergic reaction and infection.
Improvement in personal appearance is considered to be one of the major reason for undergoing
cosmetic surgery by individual.
