1INFORMATION SYSTEM Background of the case study Altia Business Park in San Pedro Sula, Honduras is memorable area. The road is beautifully designed with gated communities with small stucco houses and on other side of road a small river with clear running water. The bank of the river is covered with cramped shanties. A technological park is being developed in the area of Altia Business park by Gurpo Karims . This technological park is a multinational corporation with business in textiles and real estate and with the operators located in Asia, North America, Caribbean and Central America. The building is developed with antiseismic and Leed certified. This means that the building developed follows green building practices. The buildings are energy self-sufficient and are connected to North and South America with the help of three fibre optic submarine cables. The building is the one that comprises the Business Park. According to Rivera the basic salary of the employees working in the company located at Business Park is around $4,800 per year. The country is holding 65% population who are below poverty line. Thus, it becomes necessary to remove the poverty from the country. Issues The main issue that is faced is with the poverty. One part of the country is earning a huge amount of money however the rest are thriving for food. From the survey it is being noted that the literacy level is 84.3% with only 47% of the population is employable and they belongs to the age group 20 to 34. Thus, the competition for job increase and be fierce. With the increase in people, the need for food and other needs to earn a good livelihood also increases. Thus, it becomes responsibility of the country to develop opportunities for job this is the only source of eradicating poverty. Good life is a need of every citizen. The job in Business Park will be beneficial for people to improve their way of living. Analysis The framework that will be useful for this case is porter’s value chain model. The primary activities that are included in porter’s value chain are inbound logistics, outbound logistics, operations, marketing and sales and services. This value chain will help to analyse the important issues addressed and maintains the normal functioning. This framework will help the business park to fulfil the requirements while using the porter value chain model. After applying the porter’s value chain model, the outcomes received are as follows: Primary activities: Introducing programs that will help in managing the employees and hiring better employees. Developing several programs for training the people with adequate knowledge will be beneficial. Developing schemes people below poverty line will help them to earn their livelihood.
