Introduction The assignment focuses on analysing the impact of IT system on the strategic and overallperformance of a company. The organization that has been selected for the assignment is Tesco.For the analysis, the assignment will evaluate the areas of competitive position as well as marketposition of the company. It will also focus on understanding the system used in Tesco in variouslevels. The use of the value chain of the company and its extension will also be highlighted.Impact of It system on the company and the competitive advantages it offers will also bediscussed in order to understand the impact on overall industry. Potential areas that help increating competitive advantages and its distinct characteristics will also be focused. Current competitive position of Tesco Tesco is a multinational supermarket and grocery retail. The company is considered to holdaround 35% of the market share in the United Kingdom. The customer services and effectivestrategy has helped the company to make competitive advantages. The comparative positioningof the organization's market share is beneficial. Competitive advantage is considered as the keyattributes of the organization that supports in increasing the overall efficiency, performance andcapabilities of the company (Monitor, 2016). Tesco current competitive position helps to getcompetitive advantage that is derived through the cost leadership and diversified superiorproducts. It is evaluated that the higher competitive position of Tesco helps the company to getmost of the market share. The competitive positioning of the company is determined to bedependent on its brand name that has been evolving. It has been able to get the right messageand products at the right place and time.
